From the strings that i can gather

We are on the hunt for a experience coaching staff with Bevo new contract easing up a bit of soft cap problems.

For those about to ask, Premiership coaches get massive contract extends for obs reasons and covid cuts really made it difficult since clubs have the honour head coaches salaries vs assistant coach salaries
So Vital you say ”a” , does that mean only one to replace Smith?

One day, the EJ statue at VUWO will likely be amongst friends with accompanying Bevo and Bont castings, but I'd suggest a John Schultz (current version or player equally applicable) wouldn't be out of place. Maybe surround the ground, a-la MCG - add Mervyn Hughes, Ellie Blackburn, Irene Chatfield... and a mural listing BF posters!

Edit: they're just examples! I know you could add Hawk, Chris Grant, Charlie Sutton, Banana Legs, Ollie, Big Norm, etc, etc

If we offered a contract to Bruce, couldn’t we then put him on the LTI list and still have a spot available?

Ideally we'd delist then re-rookie him to take him off the main list, then put him on the LTI and use the list spot on an SSP or midseason draft selection. We only couldn't fill his position during the regular main or rookie drafts in November, it would need to be done later.

I would need to double check
But pretty sure you can't put rookies on LTI and then draft a replacement

Has to be a person from the primary list since the SSP deals are rookie value contracts

Looks like we are still interested

CLUBS WATCHING LOHMANN AS CONTRACT TALKS DRAG ON

Rival clubs continue to monitor Lions youngster Kai Lohmann, who remains uncontracted beyond 2023.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Victorian sides including Hawthorn are keeping tabs on the 20-year old, while his management remain in ongoing talks with Brisbane.

The Western Bulldogs are also believed to be keen on Lohmann given they targeted him last year during the Josh Dunkley deal.

But with Brisbane’s reluctance to include him in the Dunkley trade, it suggests the 20-year old could be tough to pry away from the Lions. Drafted out of the Greater Western Victoria Rebels with Pick 20 in the 2021 draft, the 185cm forward is the last first-round pick from the crop still to pen a contract extension beyond the initial two-year deal.
Lohmann has struggled for opportunities in Brisbane’s stacked forward line in 2023, playing five games all in the second half of the season — including either starting as the sub or being subbed off in three of them.

Brisbane recruiting manager Steve Conole spoke on AFL Media’s Gettable last month of the club’s desire to retain the youngster.

“That‘ll sort itself out, I think,” Conole said of contract talks.

“Hopefully it works out, we’re certainly keen to keep him, he’s a player that has a long-term future for us, so hopefully that (his contract deadlock) works out.

“I‘m sure his management and the club (are) discussing it, we’ll see where that ends up, but I’m confident he’ll stay.”

You’re right, I read VFL/W as VFLW.

So long as he’s working hands on with our young forwards in the men’s team it makes sense.
That my mistake

Thought it be easier to do it that way since that's how i also do AFL/W

I'm not sure about that. We definitely can't draft a Bruce replacement in the November rookie draft (the same draft we'd need to use to downgrade him) but I think you can still place rookies on the LTI to be replaced by an SSP or mid-season draft pick.

I believe this because West Coast were only able to use pick 1 in the 2023 midseason draft (Ryan Maric) by placing their 2022 midseason draft selection Jai Culley on the LTI - and I understand Culley is still a rookie in 2023. North essentially did the same last year with Tom Lynch - taking him in the SSP then putting him on the inactive list (and he ended up coaching for them). They had a midseason draft pick available to use as a result of his retirement but didn't fill it.

That would be correct so doesn't even take up the list spot
So it really just comes down to whether that small amount of salary cap is best used to (i) effectively top up the soft cap with Bruce, or (ii) front-load someone else’s contact by the same amount to create room for future re-signings.

Does Josh have any training as a myotherapist? That would seal the deal.

So if the Geelong/Bailey Smith rumour has legs, what does Geelong offer for him? What would we need?

I really feel like we're about as west as his leafy inner east vibe would ever travel.

Did anyone get the feeling from yesterdays presser that the board made the call on Rohan Smith? Bevo was very emotional.

Boards don’t manage businesses. Management do. This would have been a Bains and Grant decision.

Boards work with management on strategy and provide oversight.

It may explain why Bevo was emotional. The decision may have been out of his hands.

Brisbane is a tosser club, every player untouchable in the eyes of not only fans but management too. Someone has the make way for Hipwoods shitty deal, Kai will leave, whether it’s to the kennel who knows.

They seem to believe they have a right to get players from other clubs, but they're almost offended by any other club's interest in their players...

Yeah sorry I more meant, it wasn’t Bevos decision. Yeah I reckon it was out of his hands.

Weightman - Plays like a Greene/Fritsch hybrid tall type
Arty - Genuine Small
West - 'Failed" mid converted into a small
McNeil - Shown 0 at AFL level should be delisted
Clarke yet to play a game

Off that count we have 2

Yeah I’m all ears if you want to add a Charlie Cameron or Pickett .
But Ginnivan just adds more of the same we already have !
