Any info on Butts? He'd be more likely
He hasn't done a medical and things are less progressed on that front. I'd have Wilkie and Butts a similar likelihood of happening whether that be both or one won't impact a trade other then potentially a slight bump in offer to Butts should Wilkie turn us down.
Butts is being offered a fair bit more from North then we're offering (believe an extra 100-200k plus a 5th year but don't quote me), crows at this stage haven't upped the offer they have infront of him.

I thought our offer was more.

If Norf is offering that much more we could end up with noone

I’d be happy to match whatever North are offering.

Saints heavily overpaying for Jock Salami makes more sense if they thought there’s a decent chance they’d lose Wilkie. They’d only have Leek Aleer and Dougal Howard back there (and Caminiti I guess).

At least this shows the Saints aren't saying 'under no circumstances', which some Saints supporters appear to believe is the case.
It's just good business from a sales point of view. Not many teams hold players to deals like we did with Dunkley (personally i think more should). The Eagles have also said Ryan is a required player, teams also don't usual poison a players trade value like we did with Stringer.

It would but that isn't the sequence of events. Saints came late for JSOS so the dogs looked on who was on less that may be tempted out.
Also Tauru, who's a quality young defender.
Tauru will be a gun, I am somewhat biased but the Saints drafting has been close to flawless lately.

The players they were interest in all weren't interested, they didn't contact the management of every player.

I'd be 100% willing to believe that not one person on our list would want to go to St. Kilda.

I didn't find it shocking at all. Seriously.

(But yes, it's does make sense that they wouldn't bother asking everybody).

You mean their drafting?

Their recruiting has been dogshit

Noone? Who does he play for?

I checked a few stats sites and there’s no one by that name.

You have to question why the Saints board thinks we'd waste weeks of our precious off-season. Which everyone knows we must nail. On a player that St Kilda have placed on a No Trade list.

They point to a single quote from Ross as if it's gospel, not taking in account that they are still 3-4 years off seriously competing. If they keep their Guns around.

Sanders is the only Midfield swing player that I feel comfortable giving up in a trade for Wilkie. He'll be a star, no doubt in my mind, but he looks to be a slow burn type player. Still lacks composure at times and his preference to Handball the pill over kicking it, often actively harms us.

Whilst Freijah could genuinely be anything in the next few years. We call him Baby Bont for a reason.

Sanders and our 1st.
Good teams don’t trade players unless they are c grade or desperate to depart. The only one I can remember was Hawks when going for Wingard and that wasn’t a great trade for either team. Picks or picks if we want to improve when adding players.

You’d take less money to not play at North surely

Wilkie is 4 months older than Bailey Dale. Would you accept pick 10 (heavily pushed back) and some steak knives for Dale while he’s in contract?

If Dale announced he wanted out and we were offered pick 10 and a 2nd rounder as the trade, that wouldn't be crazy. (not that I want this to happen)

Knowing as we do that Dale is a complete professional and that if denied his move he’d turn up to training on day 1 of preseason and give it his all, as he always has, I don’t think we’d do that trade, much the same as we did with Dunkley in 2020.

I don’t know much about Wilkie but I suspect he fits that model professional mould pretty well too and can’t imagine he’d spend 2026 sulking if the move doesn’t get done.
