Nobody even suggest Tarryn Thomas...

Wouldn't be surprised if JUH, Budarick, Buku end up as part of a 3-4 club scenario where bickering over steak knives sees the final trade drop late tomorrow.
I posted earlier in trade period that it's in both GC's and our interests to obscure what JUH is being traded for. Bad optics to have it be a simple equation. I suspect the trade will drag out and be quite complicated in the end.

We did they wanted a first,

1 of Lindsay/Greeves/Farrow/Dovaston/Taylor will be there for our pick 10 + years of them is better then 5 of Butts
It never really felt like we went too hard to get him either. I doubt we were ever seriously in the hunt.

You guys can keep saying this but it doesn't make it true

Are Carlton nuts for not giving up a first for Buku who will fill their Curnow void?

He is just a meh player which is fine and will help but not worth losing access to top end talent for

Butts was in Adelaides starting back 6 before a concussion. He’s not a depth player like Khamis mate.

4th best at stopping teams moving the ball from d50 to f50. 9th best at stopping teams moving the ball from d50 to scoring. System is fine but when we need our defenders to defend they haven't been good enough especially against the best teams. Lobb, JOD, Buss will not be the answer in 2026 and all of them are 2s or 3s not the big key back we need. Won't do much next year if the key back room stays this way.
I call bs - nobody can defend 3 forwards leading into a mile of space in the 50 because the ball easily popped over the high press. You don't leak massive runs of goals in a quarter because your defenders lose a couple of contests - you leak massive runs because your 'system' had been worked out and have no plan B.

And when he was fit did he come straight back in?

He is like Harmes for us injury prone in the B22 when up and firing but not a guarantee to come straight back in which is why again he isn't worth our first

My fave part of trade week is watching half the board immediately turn on players we were interested in when it’s clear we aren’t going to get them.

“Wilkie is mid” and “Butts is shit”. Neither of these statements are true.
No one has said Wilkie is mid and Butts is shit

Wilkie is a star and Butts is just an average footballer

This year, Butts played 9 games in the SANFL. Buku played 6 games in the VFL.

Butts played in 10 AFL games. Buku played in 14 AFL games. Keeping in mind that Adelaide played 2 extra games as well.

I wouldn’t say it’s disrespectful but really it’s not good enough to Bont, Libba and co that we don’t appear to be getting the job done.

We should be pushing the envelope much harder.

Personally I’d trade Butts for our first. See what pick upgrade we could get alongside him.

Think we may rue this come round 12 when we face the same problems we have for the past 4 years.

Doesn’t seem to be the required tactical changes to accomodate our shortcomings.
