Trade hypotheticals

Yeah maybe but rate Macrae and Bontempelli above Stringer. They ddesperately need a quality tall and you will only get one for a decent/fair price. Patton is more likely to win a flag for them than Stringer

Stringer will definitely be better than McCrae, once he gets into the midfield. Yet to be convinced that Bontempelli will be better than Stringer.

Guys that teams should realistically look at (trade/free agency), if I was a list manager I'd be inquiring about all this guys at their respective clubs. So if you support the club of one of these players, what is a) likelihood of them accepting a move and b) what you would ask from Carlton. Obviously I'm pretending to be a list manager from Carltons perspective, but threw in a few more options (Garlett, Waite) for shits and gigs.

My view is that all these guys are talented and would add to Carltons list, or in the case of Waite/Garlett/Sewell, another teams list.
...

For mine you need to add inside mids as much as you need a key forward/defender (depending on where Henderson ends up). We've seen from Judd's recent resurgence his body was battered playing the unsuitable pure inside role, and similar problems with Murphy. The list really needs to find out quickly if Cripps will be that player if not it should be of high priority.

Really?? You certainly could not have seen Prestia play recently. Apart frm the heavy Carazzo tag when he still had 18 or so touches, he has been in the top 2 possession winners for Gold Coast in thier last 4 games with a game high 31 touches and 6 tackles against St Kilda 3 back. Without Ablett its obviously harder as he gets the tag. Prestia is the jet. Crouch could be anything, but at this stage he is probably only a moderatley fast aeroplane

Against St. Kilda he had a good game...St Kilda.
Since Ablett has been out his output has been down massively.
Crouch is the better player now and always.
19 year old getting 40 touches against the best team in the comp...compared with prestia getting 31 against St Kilda

Ceiling wise,
Stringer and bont is better than macrae, which is a really scary thought considering how good macrae is already. Bulldogs has done extremely in 2012 and 2013 drafts to snatch the top talents from the hands of gws

I'm convinced.

Stringer is outstanding but Bonts is one right out of the box. Looks like the next Pendles. Bulldogs midfield is to die for.
Still could use a bit of speed in there. We have been torched by pacey midfields at times this year and I have seen all of those guys left in an opponents wake.
A WHE type would be nice. Maybe Sumner is a more realistic target though.

Bit of a lame hypothetical by this threads standards, but would either Essendon or Hawthorn be prepared to trade their late teens pick for 2 around 25 - 27? (assuming Higgins leaves)
Both clubs have had limited draft intake the last couple of years.

3AW reported yesterday Melbourne looking to put Watts, Trengove, Toumpas and Grimes on the trade table, any offers for these players?

yeah they are hardly captains anyway.
I can't imagine that would go down to well. if that were the case though I would have thought that both Adelaide clubs would be right in to both Toumpas and Trengove. No idea as to what the asking price would be though as Toumpas hasn't proved anything yet whether it be through injuries or form and Trengove has had his fair share of injury concerns himself so that would automatically bring his price tag down.
As for Watts he only signed on last year and I have no idea about Grimes.

I doubt the club would get rid of all them, and I would say the club is after other established players

I think Trengove could still develop in to a player. Whether it is a problem at Melbourne, in regards to not being able to develop young players I'm not sure, but as a junior he was an absolute star. players don't just lose that.

Would like to grab Biggs from Sydney. But can't see him overtaking whiley, sumner, o'rourke etc for a midfield spot
Yep, he's pretty good. If Malceski and Shaw move on, he's the logical replacement, so i think (hope) we hold on to him.

Alex Johnson
Tom Mitchell
Craig Bird
Shane Biggs
Zac Jones
Gary Rohan

Alex Johnson - hard to know where he and the Swans are at. I believe he's out of contract but coming off a 3rd knee reco in barely 18 months, it is hard to know what his short and medium term prognosis is and how this affects the financial and tenure side of things.

Tom Mitchell - he's contracted and rated by the Swans. He's also shown an inability over a 4-5 year period (extending back over his U18 career) to avoid injury and stay on the park for any extended period of time. Who knows.
Craig Bird - has said he wants to stay at the Swans and has agreed terms but not sure if he's actually signed a contract yet. Undoubtedly could get more money elsewhere.
Shane Biggs - coming to the end of his third year on the rookie list. Looks reasonably comfortable at senior level for someone with so few senior games to his name but clearly well down the pecking order at the Swans. No idea if they plan to try to keep him next week or encourage him to look for more opportunities at another club. Might depend on Rhyce Shaw's intentions.
Zac Jones - Swans love him and aren't going to give up a player after one year.
Gary Rohan - Re-signed at the start of last year. Not going anywhere anytime soon. Offers a real point of difference from the Swans perspective and they can afford to keep nursing him through for a while given the strength of the rest of the team.

There are other Swans players that clubs should take a look at.

Dan Robinson is coming to the end of his second year on the rookie list. For most of last year and the start of this year there wasn't much to separate him and Jake Lloyd in terms of performance and consistency. Like Lloyd he's a player that's good at most things without being outstanding in any particular facet but he's a little bigger than Lloyd and better overhead. He's not going to be a superstar but I think he might be capable of being a solid player at AFL level. He's near the back of a very long midfield queue at the Swans and probably needs to try another club to find out if he's good enough.

Harry Marsh - tallish midfielder who is very quick but still needs to work on endurance. Doesn't see to know where to run to be a genuine midfielder but has switched to defence in recent weeks (yes, just in the NEAFL) and has looked far more comfortable. Might well be enough to win himself another year at the Swans but might also be open to being lured elsewhere.

Neither of the above is going to cost much (if anything) in trade terms. These aren't young players who are going to come in a turn a club around but I think they could be solid contributors who might not get to find out where they currently are.

I could say similar about Membrey and Lockyer except that I don't really rate Lockyer and suspect he's not quite good enough to play senior football and desperately hope that Membrey stays for a while at Sydney.

Wow doubt its true and if it is they would have to get really good offers or only trade 1 or 2 of that group max, not all of them surely.

Several top 5 picks and previous captain in Grimes...what a mess.

Only Trengove and Toumpas would benefit Carlton to add a talented youngster, if Trengove isn't injured too badly. But then Melbourne have the worst midfield in the comp so why would they trade them? I'd say our 2nd round draft pick (mid 20's)

His SANFL final series in his draft year was unreal.

Trengove played well when he was fit early on at Melbourne, injury was his main issue.
