The Higgins compo pick will immediately follow our second rounder, should he leave.

How does that make a difference?

Are you implying he will be offered more than if he was an Unrestricted? Or that restricted get a better compensation?
RFA generally get offered more $ to leave. Which makes the compo more likely to be better.
We are assuming Higgins gets a good $ offer.

Higgins is presumed to be on about 350k already, surely he is looking at a 3-4 year deal and around the 400-450k mark. UFAs are normally on bugger all but in Frawleys case he had a front ended contract so he just fell out of Melbourne's top earners.

My aren't you the detective . . . I'm a 23 year WC member mate ... how long you been around? I've missed 2 home games in 12 years, including finals, was at the '05 and '06 GF and attend all pre-season matches each year. I've got a small idea of what WC have, need and can afford to give up.

They aren't going anywhere with the midfield they have, 'we' need power, height and speed through the middle. Petracca ticks all boxes, plus he kicks goals and will go top 3 in the draft. He is a Judd-like generational player. Rather than take a douchey shot at me, why not engage in the discussion.

Your comment was troll-like, where as mine was on the topic of the thread 'trade hypothetical's'.

West Coast need to manufacture a top 1 to 5 pick - Petracca and others like Peter Wright then come into play. But they will need to trade hard and give up experience and quality in order to compete for these trade places if they go that way. They would be mad not to test the waters.

I would give you Geelong's Rd1 for Scooter. Add that to your current Rd1 and that will get you close to Petracca I would have thought…

GO Catters

Wouldn't offer much for O'Shea, mostly because 2/3 of our list has played significant time in defence

But Melbourne would then trade pick 3 to a club that wants McCartin and the saints would miss out. Dees will be desperate for the 2 best midfielders with those early picks. If they can't get them they will trade to clubs that wants KPP for young midfielders and lesser picks like the Tyson deal.

The likelihood of Jaksch wanting to go to St Kilda is slim.
If we get P3 for chip then I could see us approaching the dogs and offering P3 in exchange Hrovat and P6. Assuming we take Brayshaw and as expected the Saints take Petracca, Dogs have a free run at McCartin or Wright.

Hrovat? No thanks. Would rather deal with GWS to get one of their fringe mids.

Bulldogs would be mad to give up Hrovat and 6 for pick 3. The kid has a great future. Hrovat and 6 for 3 and 21 sounds a lot fairer. Then the dogs could trade pick 21 for Jaksch. Then they would get McCartin / Wright and Jaksch for Hrovat and pick 6.

Not real keen on say trading up and using Hrovat to do it. However if (a big if) we were too then we would be trading into the top 2 picks. Can't afford picks 1 and 2 to be going with McCartin and Wright, leaving us with the same predicament if we had pick 3 (leaving us with say Petrecca/Durdin). Also pick 21 would have to come into play also Hrovat for a 4 pick upgrade just doesn't cut it. He's actually one of the better ball users at the club.

Someone has probably mentioned him already but what would teams give up for De Boer?

That's cool. It's natural to overrate your own players.
Why would you trade a kid whose already shown how good he can be at AFL level, fills a huge need, and is extremely well liked and offers buckets of leadership for a 3 pick upgrade in a pretty even draft?

The opportunity to draft a potentially elite KPF and not repeat the same mistakes last time you challenged...

You'd rather trade pick 3 for a fringe mid? Hrovat and pick 6/7 or O'Rouke and GWS pick 20????????? I would take the first deal.

Tom Bellchambers + Pick 19 for Melbourne compo pick + Max Gawn?

What the???

Gawn is 3 years younger and has averaged more disposals, marks, goals and hit outs per game this year whilst still growing into his epic frame.

Fact. Gawn compares favourably to Sandy at the same age and will replace Jamar next year as our number 1 ruckman. TBC is 25 and has for the most part played VFL footy this year...

Loose Gawn and replace TBC with Carlisle and you're closer.
