in regards to the ladson rumours, surely we wouldnt pick him up?? he is a half back flanker, who is injury proned! not to mention the fact we have gav urqhuart who can't even get a game and guys like jamie macmillan on the fringe as well.

Not really, what if he becomes a better player than both. Do we play the bloke who we are attatched to because we've seen him play, or the new guy who has thrived in a new environment and come on in leaps and bounds. It could work the other way though, he may not make it. Pick 69 is not much to give up on a player who can kick multiple goals, especially when his side was travelling well.

Warren has become a good hit up player at half forward, and if McKinley can play closer to goal, he could compete with Edwards, more so than Warren. Given how our forward line is far from a finished product, any new variables in it can only make it better. Don't see what we have to lose at pick 69, if that's in deed what happens.

No 3 into 1 is no good. I'd say in our best games for the season we had 2 of these types in the side. Now 3 into 2 creates competition for spots and that substitute may well be another forward who is that little bit different to the others. IMO Mckinley is a much closer to goal player than Warren and Edwards is adept at playing out of a pocket or a flank.

Mr. Reliable posed the question on his height and whether he would be too small at 185cm.

Ben plays a lot taller than 185cm and the bonus is he has very good smarts/forward awareness. Somewhat of a presence in the forward line, good on the lead and can use his body. Could ideally put on a bit more muscle but the key with Ben is his work on his agility and ball winning at ground level along with his defensive pressure.

Ever since he was a junior at Yarrambat, he has had a very good work-rate and discipline enabling him to get the best out of himself. He has done well at West Coast, by no means been poor. With his studies nearly over, and a fresh start back in Melbourne he is definitely worth a second chance or look at pick #69.

Do not underestimate the importance of having competition for spots in our forward line and the importance of a mid-size player who can play taller than he actually is. I've always been told Essendon and Carlton were front-runners over North, but I'm glad we're making a play for him. Worth a shot IMO.

AFL.com Radio, someone just called in asking about the Hale 1st rounder swap proposal, and they said that it was put forward by North as something that would get the deal done. Said that Melbourne would be overpaying (obviously), but a chance as it would get the deal done.
