Not sure how I feel about F2G's rumour about Garlett for Melksham swap.
Personally I think St Kilda are in la la land. Pick 3 JOR and Jaksch is more than we gave for Judd whos credentials at the time were already in the afls elite. I understand pick 1 holds a fair bit of value but they are dropping 2 spots not placing themselves out of the top 10.

Cheers for filling us in.Don't listen to the revisionist Dogs supporters who are loudly mouthing off at how Jones and Tutt want to head to the Blues - many of them can't accept that due to our poor coach, players are wanting to leave, and they're trying to justify this by saying "eh, nobody's that good anyway that's leaving"
Jones was misused by the Dogs all year and the way we've treated him, the only tall timber down forward with so support, I can't blame him for leaving. He's good at operating in space and needs to have room to jump at the ball, he's not great when you kick it on his head and expect him to outmuscle anyone.
I like Tutt because he's got pace, genuine pace, and knows where to run, he just doesn't run like a headless chook. A really, really good set shot for goal as well, one of the best in our team, and is a good long kick. Despite being a bit short, he's got a solid body on him as well though contested ball isn't his forte. However his main weakness is that he's got butterhands. His fumbles will frustrate the hell out of you. Always a second or third grab of the deck and his handball receives are half the time wasted.
Don't let other Dogs fans want to soften the blow of players quitting our club lead you to believe that you're picking up duds, you're picking up two gems of players who were at odds with our coach and don't let the BigFooty Bulldogs groupthink (seriously, read the last 25 pages of our List Management thread, utter bile) influence you in thinking you're not picking uo a couple of very handy players.
What's all this "campaigner" business? What does it mean? Why is everyone saying it all of the sudden?

I have a recollection that Robbo ended up at the Bulldogs after his stellar career at Carlton. You crazy kids........

Eddie mcChins called kane cornes a campaigner on TV.. now the word campaigner has been changed to campaigner on BF as eddie said he meant to say campaigner

Does anyone reckon we should go for Tim Membery? Old school leading full forward, solid build, good mark and accurate shot. Behind Tippett, Reid, Franklin and now Goodes wants to keep going
In other trade news, Carlton is looking to become one of the most active off-season players, with Jason Tutt joining his Western Bulldogs teammate Liam Jones on the club's wishlist.
The Blues are hoping Kristian Jaksch chooses to seek a trade there instead of St Kilda, with the GWS forward to potentially feature in a three-way deal that could see teammate Jono O'Rourke move to Hawthorn.
In one proposed deal, Carlton would slide from pick 6 to pick 18 in the national draft in return for Jaksch, a No.12 pick two years ago.
O'Rourke, pick 2 in the same draft, would move to the Hawks for pick 18, with the Giants gaining pick 6 for the pair.
Jaksch has gone away for a week, and will decide upon returning whether he would prefer to play for the Blues or Saints next year.
Jones told the Bulldogs last week that he would like to be traded after six years at the club, with Tutt also requesting a move to Carlton.
The small defender/wingman played seven games this year for a total of 26 in four years at the club.

Proposed trade, take no notice of that in an article that calls Tutt a defender.http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...the-demons-20141001-10ovf4.html#ixzz3Etv4PW3F
So pick 6 for Jaksch & 18? I don't know.
Nup **** it. They can keep Jaksch.http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...the-demons-20141001-10ovf4.html#ixzz3Etv4PW3F

Everitt and Docherty weren't money ball. Everitt and Doc cost us second round picks, were former first round picks and weren't out of favour at their clubs.I actually like what im seeing atm...i see it as similar moneyball trades like everitt and docherty last year.
Jones and tutt will come cheap and fill needs...key forward and small forward.
Melksham is certainly better than what i expected t get for garlett...cmon guuys melksham has shown some abiloty at afl level and again adds to the midfield roatations, decent talent...much better than a shit third rounder.
Lets say jones, tutt and melksham for third rounder, fourth rounder amd garlett. Thats a win imo
Jones and tutt should certainly help with our forward pressure both are quickMM will trade for ready made bodies J.
Prefers lugs as KP, and builds his sides around runners.
Rucks, break evens, prefers them going forward and slotting a goal or two.
One of very few realists that sees turnovers as an advantage, and that's where blokes by hand or foot are gold.
Pressure, pressure, pressure off the ball, EVERYONE to be involved.
Depends on what happens with our other targets but you wouldn't want to give up much for him.Does anyone reckon we should go for Tim Membery? Old school leading full forward, solid build, good mark and accurate shot. Behind Tippett, Reid, Franklin and now Goodes wants to keep going
Why would we bothered helping Hawthorn? A bucket of cold water on this suggested trade.http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...the-demons-20141001-10ovf4.html#ixzz3Etv4PW3F

But GWS takes 6 for both?http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...the-demons-20141001-10ovf4.html#ixzz3Etv4PW3F

There appears to be a very clear directive from MM and the list management team to target a specific type of footballer, and it is exciting to see that plan starting to come to fruition.
Regardless of the names being thrown up as options, for the first time in a number of years we seem to have a clear plan and are looking to execute that plan without wavering.
We know that MM was not as active as he'd have liked in his first off-season in charge of the club, for reasons which were out of his control. We did though start to see the movement last year when afforded greater freedom to move and that looks to be continuing this year.
It is not easy to read out activity in FA as we've only used it to bring one player in thus far and it doesn't look like we'll be adding to that this year. You couldn't accurately define our activities based on that but it may be that we see FA as a 'free-hit' of sorts to add to the upper echelon of the playing list.
We seem to be very active when it comes to accommodating younger players who express a desire to return to Victoria. The 'go-home' factor is real and we look eager to use that to our advantage if the available options fit the type we're looking to bring on board. We saw it last year with Docherty and we may see it again this year with Jaksch and/or O'Rourke.
We also look to be very active when recruiting talented players who for whatever reason have been unable to put it all together. MM has a wonderful record of getting the most out of his players and it looks as though he's backing himself in to do it again.
Last year we saw that with Everitt who had always shown glimpses of talent but had never been able to produce consistently. We got him effectively for nothing - swapping him with pick 39 for pick 32 - and immediately he showed his worth.
This year we look to be continuing the trend with Jones, Tutt and possibly even Blease.
Jones as a tall forward has some real advantages to his game. Very strong hands and a wonderful defensive work ethic when switched on. His major issue to this point in his career is that he just hasn't been switched on enough. When he's on I don't think there are any questions that he is AFL quality but we've seen he is a liability when his mind is elsewhere.
Tutt also has some standout qualities that make it possible for him to be a good AFL footballer. Very good strength, pace, endurance and a booming kick are all valuable attributes to have. Also has the ability to play in a number of positions having shown he's capable both up forward and on a wing. Early on an issue he faced was that he wasn't tough enough but he looks to have worked hard on that part of his game. Now it would appear his major issue, much like Jones, is that consistency has been lacking. He hasn't been on top of his game often enough and from what I've read in this case it may be linked to confidence and a real self-doubt that the player belongs at AFL level.
Blease I'm not a real fan of because other than his pace I don't think he brings much to the table but funny things have happened when players are given a new opportunity at a new club.
All of those three players have been linked to us and they all have certain qualities that will appeal to AFL clubs. They haven't yet been able to put it all together but that doesn't mean it can't happen in a new environment.
MM is not a miracle worker and responsibility lies firmly with the individual player to make the most of a second opportunity but if they show a desire to get their careers back on track then there aren't many better coaches to be playing under.
Some may say it's too big a risk to bring these guys across but I strongly disagree. Importantly we're not going down this path and sacrificing bringing youth into the club through the draft. If we were doing that then questions would be asked and rightly so, however what we're really talking about here is moving on unwanted players or later picks for these players. To me that represents a very low risk move with potentially very high reward. Sure, not every move will come off but that's no different to taking the picks to the draft and it certainly doesn't mean we should shy away from exploring every opportunity to improve our squad.
The player movement period drags on and can be unbearable at times but for the first time in many years we appear to have a clear plan on how best to move forward and to me that is genuinely exciting.
