I would trade for Naismith over Nankervis

So would I, but Nankeris would still be better than Lobbe at half the price of Lobbe. Then again I'd go for James Stewart before the pair of them.

In order of preference it'd be.

1. James Stewart
2. Nankervis
3. Naismith

If we could get Tom Lamb for cheap, I'm interested. Sure, the whole no dickhead policy thing that someone came up with out of thin air and then everyone ran with like it was made official, but he's got talent and he's a mobile 192cm forward who could even maybe pinch hit in the midfield.

He's only two years into his career, so still young.
Can't say I've heard or seen anyone running with this "no dickheads policy" thing until you brought it up just now. I've heard the coach talking about bringing in "quality people" but that's about it.

O'Shea at 24 isnt best 22 so trade him, Arch at 22 I think gets 1 more chance.

Stewart isn't but because Carlile retired we must keep him as backup. Jonas is best 22.
Ah Chee has played a few weeks of really good senior footy and he's going to be 23 next season. Slim chance he makes it at Port.

Travis is fine as captain. He just needs help in the midfield. Too much is left up to him and Ollie to win the hard ball.
Boaks best footy is as a primarily outside player that can go inside but his gut running is his strength. He has had to play too much of an inside role that has hurt his strengths.

I gave him a slim chance of surviving when he was playing terrible football in the Maggies 2 years ago and he ended up proving me wrong.

If he doesn't cement a spot next year then he'll be gone.

What makes Jonas best 22 out of interest? He shouldn't be ahead of Austin, Hombsch or Clurey on form.

Chad was playing with a busted finger most of the year, along with leg issues. Despite that he still had a reasonable year, given our forwards got shit delivery from round 1.
true. if the injuries were as bad as quoted then he shouldnt be playing. This is an accumulation of reasons why we failed this year. Charlie hobbling over butcher.....chad cant mark cos of finger over others.

Are there other teams?
No. Isn't he 29 or something? And this entire episode is purely about getting into the very top end of the draft and rejuvenating the list with some top end YOUNG talent. It's not about trading in top up players for a tilt at the premiership. That's the whole point. We've given away picks for Ryder and Dixon, now is the time to plant some seeds.
Are you going to tell Charlie we lied to him when we recruited him and it's really a rebuild? Good luck!

Getting one or two top 10 picks that Hinkley describes as ready to play next year is not a rebuild. We can win the flag next year and that's what we are trying to do.

He's best 22 cos he can play talk and small. Can play on Bettes or Jenkins. That allows Trengove to play back and then pinch hit in ruck. Ken loves flexibility.

This is what I posted in July. Believe it's still relevant now aside from a couple of the kids at the very bottom. Bonner, Palmer, Frampton are keepers:

We should put a stack of senior players on the trade table and look to trade 2 or 3 that give us the best possible draft picks. The delistings then depend on who (if any) were traded.

On the trade table for me would be:
- Jonas
- Young (for a really good offer)
- Ebert
- Sam Gray
- Ah Chee
- Toumpas
- Polec
- O'Shea
- Lobbe
- Hoff
- Neade
- Broadbent
- Clurey
- Amon

Would trade but realistically no value / Delist based on who gets traded:
- Carlile
- Stewart
- Hoon
- Butcher
- Schulz
- Krak
- Kane Mitchell
- White

Would trade but realistically nobody would take on contract:
- Hammer

Not for trade:
- Boak
- Wines
- Pittard
- DBJ
- Hombsch
- Austin
- Trengove
- Robbie
- Chad
- Ryder
- Dixon
- Impey
- Dougal

No opinion as I've never seen them:
- Palmer, Frampton, Johnson, Snelling, Hewett, Houston, Bonner

If we traded a few of them, even for 2nd / 3rd rounders, we at least increase our odds of finding some draft gold.

The fact he plays tall or small does not make him good at playing tall or small. He's been nothing short of an abomination for two years. He can't kick, he's one of the slowest players in the AFL and he's an extremely awkward height.

Of course none of that seemed to matter in 2014 but he's such a limited player.

I had Clurey ahead of him a few weeks ago but others on the board said Jonas should play ahead of him round 1 because when Jacko is down back and Ryder is rucking Jonas can then play on medium/small players.

Edit: whoops should have read down.

I didn't say it was a full rebuild. Everyone knows why we traded high picks for Ryder and Dixon. It's because we were apparently right in our window. It's arguable that's still the case. But you can't keep trading away high picks forever. At some point you simply must bring in quality youngsters otherwise you're ******. We'd be looking to bring in another plug in and play youngster (or two) like Wines, no question.
