Have you seen anyone give up any young players for young KPF in your lifetime?

The closest you'd get is Tom Boyd, a Pick 1, for a 28 year old Ryan Griffen and Pick 6. And that was back when clubs didn't have the ability to do future pick trading.

2 first round picks and maybe a decent (not star) player is all that Gold Coast could expect for Lukosius. Back when they were talking about drafting him, they held a stronger hand because if Adelaide or Port got either Luko or Rankine, they would be there for a long time.

But if Lukosius nominates Port Adelaide at the end of 2020, it's Port who has the stronger hand, because even if Gold Coast talks about dealing with Adelaide as well, Lukosius has to agree to it...and who the **** would go to that wasteland of a list? You might as well stick with the Suns.

Crows will have huge dollars as their 4 oldest forwards would be gone and they could pay Lukosius $1m a year for 5 years.

Walker, Jenkins and Lynch are all still contracted for 2021.

We could pay him that too. Plus Ryder, Boak, Gray, Rockliff, Hartlett, Dixon and Motlop all have contracts that will be renewing in 2020/21, if needed I would imagine all would shave off a bit for a gun who may help get to a flag.

Potential success and any personal ties would likely be as important as a pure dollar sum for any young player coming to SA.

Port’s team is mostly young. Crows very much driven by their older brigade.

Agreed.

The only thing I would say is that maybe this year, considering the tumultuous trading period they had last year, GCS might push harder to make a statement.

So they back load it. If he wants back to SA, rather than to Port, it's an auction. I think he'd just be happy to be playing here, enough that an extra $100k or $200k a year from Adelaide would make up for not playing with us. So overpaying won't cut it.

Although it would be great to get a player like Lukosius, i genuinely hope he and Rankine stay up here. Would be great to see the expansion clubs retain some decent players and have some success.
Nup.

That said I've little doubt Lukosius will play 100 games for Gold Coast pretty much as Brad did for West Coast. You don't generally shaft the people who show faith in you as a high draft pick. 100 games is fair enough.

Nah. They can retain the Victorian players instead thanks. The minimal uproar about the Victorian teams pillaging the expansion clubs is shocking.

Can suck it!
There's a thread about cockatoo as an uncontracted player possibly linked to port. I'm not sure what his current injury is? Guy would be a gun if he ever played a few games in a row.
Interesting. I wouldn’t say no to adding more pace and hardness. He’s strong overhead when he plays forward too.

I wonder how much Geelong would demand in a trade? High draft pick but perennially injured and their salary cap is probably tighter than most.

All this talk of Lukosius. Five games in and for all he's done when I've watched GC he might as well have been pick 72 and relatively unknown.
Yeah, when you compare him to all of those other teenage KPF's who are dominating the league he looks really average, doesn't he?

His potential is high. Question will be will he still have that pace and agility that set him apart in his draft combine?
If not, does he have the skills to still make it or will he be a Toumpas?

He wouldn’t be on heaps of coin and can’t imagine he would cost a lot in picks if he wanted a fresh start elsewhere.

I’m not sure he would be first 22 here though

would love to go for cockatoo. Unsure about how well his body will hold up, he has been injured for significant periods of time. But we have a good track record with getting injured guys into decent condition. He does love port, remember in his draft year he would wear a port top during interviews.
