I love the mitchell inclusion into our midfield.

Not only for the experience, foot skills, leadership and mongrel he will bring, but also for the increased selection pressure it puts on guys like redden, jetta, masten etc

Basically, its either these guys are going to have to step up, or spend the next year or two playing in the WAFL

ok now that shitfight is done & dusted, what will pick 12 actually end up being after any potential academy selections? I can't keep up with it...

In: Mitchell, Vardy, pick 12, pick 34, pick 54 (Waterman), possibly a DFA to bring the list to 40.
Out: Ellis, Cavka, McGinnity, Bennell, Brown

Happy with that.

FiveStrings didn't we have one main list spot that we didn't use last year that allowed us to take an additional rookie ??
So pick 106 may come into play.
Could be wrong but I had in the back of my mind that we had an additional main list spot to utalise this draft period if we trimmed the rookie list back !!!???

Terry Wallace has given each team a 'Grade' for this years trade period.

Adelaide- E
Brisbane- C+
Carlton- B+
Collingwood- D-
Essendon- C+
Fremantle- A
Geelong- D-
Gold Coast- D
GWS- A
Hawthorn- C-
Melbourne- B
North Melbourne- D+
Port Adelaide- E
Richmond- B+
St Kilda- A
Sydney- D-
West Coast- A
Western Bulldogs- C-

Both WA teams with the A grade rating brah

Hawks copped the pineapple this trade period but watch them make a play for "Free Agent Fyfe" this time next year with all that new found salary cap space.

I reckon they will take one year of pain to become instant contenders again in 2018....

What would it take to get Fyfe ?

a month ago you would be accused of being delusional to suggest this outcome

I would've thought we traded pick 88 for Kane Mitchell.

Nothing like being rated by a coach who got sacked by Richmond, but I'd have to wait and see what Damien Drum, Michael Voss and Mark Neeld think first.

Sorry Terry if you're reading this.

Yeah that's why I suggested the DFA. Could alternatively be pick 106 or a PSD pick.

Swans get: Pick 9, 19, 49 for Powers : Pick 14, 17, 31
 why?

Guessing it's like our Sheed deal, Port have identified someone they want and are prepared to trade down and get the extra pick in the 30s.

Is pick 102 worth anything in points for Waterman ??

If nobody bids before our pick 54 then pick 106 will be enough to get waterman due to the points discount

Pick 106 or a DFA or an extra rookie if we keep a main list of 39

Unless there's a solid DFA prospect use the late draft pick imo

No idea. If our salary cap is tight we might just take an extra rookie instead.

I'd suggest Marsh as a DFA but I think he's contracted.

Marsh is contracted do would require Collingwood to delist him which they may do to avoid carrying a player on their list that won't be there in 2017

I think they get an A because their list is so good that it doesn't matter what they actually did :)
Pretty weird. Gave away McCarthy, Ahern, Pickett and Marchbank for absolutely nothing. Get an A. wtf

Yep thats the only thing I could think of too. Hope Port get screwed and their slider gets picked up.

How does he give the Giants an A I wonder? They had plenty of currency but most of them went for unders surely.
They get Deledio- the best footballer in the country in 2004

Do we want Ryan for 34 or another mid?
Obviously depends on who is available but I'd be inclined to pick up Ryan.
LeCras is on his last legs, while Karpany and Tunbridge will have to have good years to avoid being delisted. That leaves us with two decent players in Hill and Cripps. Maybe Lamb and Waterman too, but they project more as medium-tall marking targets rather than small forwards (and personally I'd prefer Ryan over either).
We should be wary of creating a glut of young mids who aren't able to get a crack playing midfield in the seniors. "Throw a tonne of darts at the dartboard and hope one sticks" isn't good list management in my opinion because it will invariably result in other positions being neglected, players being shifted to unfamiliar positions and young talent seeking opportunities elsewhere (for next to nothing, if this trade period is any guide).
