Interesting. Whose list was he on originally?

Also I should have clarified my post by saying those players who have been delisted and then rookied immediately by another club - not guys who've gone back to state leagues and worked on their deficiencies before being re-drafted.

Actually I got it wrong. Thought he was on another list but he just trained with Saints and Bombers.

Tbh I haven't really seen him play, but as an alternative to Petrie, hoping that we're considering Darcy Cameron as an option. We're seemingly looking for a player be can both a ruck option and play forward as well, and he averaged 12.79 hitouts and 1.89 goals per game last season, albeit only at WAFL level, so he wouldn't be considered "AFL ready" compared to Petrie, but at least he is capable of playing beyond next season if we choose to retain him.

Carrazzo, Lovett-Murray, Anthony Miles (so far), off the top of my head.
It's not the best hit rate. The reason why I thought about it was Viojo Rainbow. It's tempting to think that a club just didn't handle someone right and that they're worth a rookie spot, but simple fact is it's more likely that the other club knew they're never going to make it

our success rate ain't that great but i bennell exceeded my expectations. He had a good 2014 tbh but the emergence of shep and wellingham as defenders and butler and ellis being more durable he lost his spot. DVJ might be worth a punt on the rookie list.

Nah, there's a few nuggets but I'd say the odds are against it.

A bit harsh injury hasn't helped and he really hasn't been given much of a go

He has had plenty of years to show something. He didn't have many injuries early on and his hammy problems are relatively recent and he has never set the world on fire at WAFL level in any position anyway. Time to cut our losses. On the injury point, can we afford to carry another injury prone big guy ?? Especially a mediocre one ? I don't think so.

i was so keen to get Vardy , then I realised I mixed him up with Smith at Geelong . I do the same crappy stuff at auctions .
I can see how you mixed them up, both were over rated. Vardy would be cheaper so all good

Carlton's 2014 draft was surely one of the worst in history. Lost best 22 players Waite, Robinson & Garlett for nothing. Their best ins were picking up Boekhurst at 19, closely followed by the recruitment of Liam Jones.

Carlton 2014 ins (bold remain listed):

Dick (DFA)
Jaksch, Whiley & 19 (pick 7)
Boekhorst (pick 19)
Viojo-Rainbow (pick 28)
Liam Jones (pick 46)
Clem Smith (pick 60)
Foster (pick 63)
Fraser Russell (cat B rookie)
Tutt (PSD)

Was that the last year that the previous guy was there before being replaced by Silvagni?

I bet he did it to sabotage the club.

What a legend

Have to agree. He's 23 now and how 5 or 6? AFL preseasons behind him for a return of SFA. Won't spill any tears if another club picks him up.

I have been thinking of another query lately, which is:

how many players who have been delisted by one club gone on to be rookied by another club and had an effective career afterwards?

You are most likely right, although this year there seem to be so many more delistings/list changes that maybe a few players that could make it are being discarded a bit prematurely. That said, our success rate on this has generally been awful.
