I disagree, there are plenty of other contending clubs to join before thinking of relocating your entire family across the Nullabor. Why not join the Bulldogs or GWS? It's not like we're the only club which could afford him, or if Clarko just pulled our name out of a hat.

The recruitment team have clearly worked hard on getting the Hawks and Mitchell to nominate WC and, pending the final deal, deserve appropriate recognition.

No loads have been chugged yet, but they will be if and when Mitchell is racking up 30 quality touches a week next year.

Fantastic trade if it's for a token pick as expected. A big-game player, leader with high football IQ and most importantly, a winner. He will be great for our kids.

Pretty sure Mitchell was one who already took a pay cut going into next season.

The figure I've read/heard is around $400k

I suspect the draft picks used in a trade will depend on what portion, if any, of Mitchell's salary for 2017 hawthorn contribute to.

Decided on Sam Mitchell instead.

No need for rucks.

Not a great list is it.

Knew nothing of Goodwin until now. We will need at least two rucks for cover in case Lycett doesn't recover quick enough so he or a WAFL ruck will be required on top of someone with AFL experience.

Lobbe is apparently on a 3 yr 500k p.a. contract with PA, so cant see how that would work out unless they paid most of his contract out, but three years....nope.

Vardy is built to break, so not a great option for cover, and long term which would be the thinking, wouldn't make the team.

Petrie wont be able to ruck enough at his age and his recent ruck work has been non existent.

Minson, should be a solid enough option for a 1 year cover option on the cheap.

Hope Lycett recovers well!

Hopefully this is all a con, to show Gold Coast that we have $1mil plus to satisfy O'Meara's contract requirements in the pre-season draft and they accept a second round and next years first round rather than lose him to us for nothing as hopefully no other club has $1mil laying around to meet O'Meara's demands...but if it's not. Hypothetical, if Hawks played Eagles at the G how would you guys feel if Mitchell after the game swapped guernseys with the Hawks player with 5, and did a lap for Hawks fans? He'd be a big enough professional to not let it effect his football. Would you look down at this or as long as he was performing happy for the romance?

He just kicked 80 goals, the delivery he gets is already very good.
