Will they keep the pick or will it go to the Hawks for Hill?
Assuming they send the 30s GWS pick to the Hawks for Hill.

Wait, what? They got a second rounder in that trade as well? WtfAssuming they send the 30s GWS pick to the Hawks for Hill.
They got McCarthy, pick 7, pick 35 and pick 73.....Wait, what? They got a second rounder in that trade as well? Wtf
I'm not sure if you just haven't kept up to speed with everything that's been reported about the issue, you're trolling or you just don't get it.
I'll humour you.
WCE targeted Mitchell as a future coach a year ago. Presumably this was due to the strong link between Simmo and Mitchell. Now Mitchell could have (possibly) got a job as an assistant at the Hawks (most aspiring coaches however move to different clubs to get different experiences) or entertained offers from other clubs (this would be purely speculation) however from all reports he had a 2018 gig at the Eagles lined up. From a coaching recruitment perspective that's a nice little innovative move by WCE (or just another jobs for the boys exercise but I can see the potential and merit in looking at Mitchell as a assistant coach).
He didn't plan to leave the Hawks. He signed an extension in July ffs. If 12 months ago we were in his ear and had a strategy for him moving to the Eagles next year then we failed miserably. Well up until ol mate Clarko decided he needed the cap space at brownlow night and 'encouraged' Mitchell to consider a move to us a year early. That's why he is (likely) leaving the Hawks. Not because we've been in his ear about coming and playing for us, but because Clarko asked him.
Personally if I was Mitchell knowing that coaching at the Eagles in 2018 was a done deal I would have much rather played on at the club, my only club, that I have achieved so much at, etc etc and retire being a one club player. Yeah not dragging the kids out of school after a year is nice but that is a very small part of the decision process and that's basically the only real benefit to Mitchell coming across a year early. I mean heck he could have not signed the extension, signed with us as an FA for 2017 and then coached in 2018. You can argue that getting to know the club a year early as a player is a positive, but it could also be a negative going from player to coach after just a year in a new club and environment.
Getting Mitchell a year early is a great thing for the Eagles (again assuming the price is right) but you need to stop drinking the kool aid if you think WCE master minded him coming across for 2017 and this wasn't driven primarily (and solely) by Hawthorn's need for cap space.

I'm out of the loop, I guess GWS might not even get down that far in the draft if they get another couple of higher picks from their trades. They got McCarthy, pick 7, pick 35 and pick 73.....
Giants got pick 3.... because that's such a fair trade and everything.
What the **** you laughing at? He's mine
Shep at best could go on a wing and not in the middle. I just don't think his hands are that great and on when he has made mistake this season it's been because of a dodgy hand pass. Shep was averaging more than 20 odd possessions then It is worth a punt but he isn't.And lockdown small / mid defenders don't win you premierships.
Cole and Butler can cover that role.
We need more...............that's the point.
Shep could possibly deliver more...........he needs to be challenged.
Shep's decision making is what holds him back going to the midfield.Sg

Times have certainly changed.Freo are making out like bandits this trade period thus far.

Who you taking with no.1?
Petrie?
I hadn't read the Mitchell interview & Quayle article, so I thought the coach offer from 12 months ago was just a rumour. Fair enough. I shall switch from kool aid to something better, preferably with alcohol.I'm not sure if you just haven't kept up to speed with everything that's been reported about the issue, you're trolling or you just don't get it.

He's been one of my favourite non Eagles players for a long time. Incredibly talented footballerGonna have to wash off a LOT of Sam Mitchell hate this off-season.
Only things I've enjoyed about Mitchell thus far were his Essendon injection taunt and the LeCras tackle on him that led to JK's goal in round 22.
