Agreed McInnes has been disappointing, but Petrie has shown little more than him this year and was gifted games when he really should not have been. Perhaps Norf had no one coming through and pushing hard enough for his forward spot...But a ruck options he is definitely not. And apparently a forward/ruck option is what we're getting him for.

IF we are scraping the barrel (and that is what we are doing by looking to Petrie) in the hope that he will somehow be able to cover for one of Lycett, Giles ,Vardy and is better than a variety of other pinch hitting ruck options (including Darling, Yeo, Schofield...and God forbid Gov or even McInnes) we are cooked.... Like a piece of meat at a Sri Lankan BBQ.

Our ruck stocks are thin. What do we do if Lycett goes down and Vardy isn't right? Be very clear I am not pushing the Petrie for PM barrow here, I am just asking what our plan B is? Do you expect us to have a tilt or just tread water appeasing bigfooty's jilted view?

He is very, very aggressive. Plays to hurt his opponent, tackles hard and attacks the contest with intent. Think mumford/troy wilson. He's a bit of a bowling ball it's really a case of is his tap work good enough (certainly not atm), does he have the requisite size and agility (yes, not amazing but good enough), is his play reading ability good enough (maybe), is he able to be further developed (definitely)

Even with Petrie we're not cooked as we have 2 solid big bodied rucks ahead of him plus Vardy if he can get on the park and get up to date with the game plan over the off season.

Is Minson actually willing to move to Perth (certainly Petrie seems more keen)? Surely he's a better option as an additional ruck backup than Petrie since he's a bit younger and has actually been rucking full time? Are we seemingly considering Petrie ahead of Minson, because we want someone who can play forward as well? I guess it depends on what they deem to be more important, a pure ruck or another tall forward option who can pinch hit in the ruck.

Yeah they're better off in the long term but JOM might not play more than 10 games a year ever again and Mitchell might struggle without Sydneys ckass around him.
They have made gutsy list changes and always get their man though.
Pushing for another flag before Clarko retires but expect a different game plan and also for them to land Fyfe this time next year.

I'd like to think we would absolutely continue to have a crack. Did we not see how the reigning premiers managed to overcome the obstacle of not having a ruck God?

We have been spoilt over the last 15 odd years with dominant ruckmen. But I think we need to become less reliant on them to give us an advantage in the middle.

Our ruck stocks, imo, are no thinner than the Bulldog's, nor Sydney's, nor Hawthorn"s. How many back up to back ups who are ready made do we need? I'm not saying don't get another ruck. A project ruck is I think a sound strategy. My bug is that Petrie is even being considered in this 'wide net' that is still being cast. He is done. He will offer us nothing. If we are having a tilt and we have to tap Petrie on the shoulder to even back up ruck while playing forward, we're f*****. Think Brown in the ruck/fwd role. We might as well throw the young project ruck in and see what development we can get into him. He may not be any better but he certainly won't be any worse, and he will have more long term potential than Petrie offers.

If that isn't the go, come up with some combo of Darling, Schofield, Yeo or Gov (not particularly a fan of this). Who knows maybe that big lump McGinnes might even provide something (unlikely).

I am more concerned by our lack of a decent back up if JK or JD go down. And no, Petrie will not offer us much there either. Now then we would be screwed.

After all that dribble, I guess what I'm trying to say is Petrie is a wasted list spot. Do not want.

Did you know that the probability of winning a coin toss is not 50%, the side facing up wins 51% of the time.

Why not just get minno as DFA or Goodwin from the VFL?

It does seem very strange after the Vardy acquisition. It's either we were bullshitting about being confident in Vardys body and we are just crossing our fingers and pick up Petrie as (shit) insurance.

I agree tho, it feels like it would be a waste of a pick. Bout time we had a successful rookie pick been a few years.
