Surely we wouldn't have knocked back a band 3 compensation pick for Maric??

I know we hold the cards in that deal, but honestly, that's well above his worth. It's effectively pick 19, in whichever draft we want to use it for the next few years. I'd take that any day of the week for Maric.

I hope we don't end up holding out for something we're not going to get, and lose a good offer in the process.

Thanks Stiffy and Crowfoot.

So basically GWS could still do a few little shenanigans around the MD picks and 'genuine on-trade' requirement?

It will be extraordinary if we manage to get the compo pick + more, in my opinion. Would be a steal.

Richmond must be desperate.....if what we get can be thrown into a MD deal then go for it. Richmond have all their eggs in one basket, we look like going at that.

I want to get that compo pick back, but if we can get more....go for it.
Could backfire on you guys as well.

Barrett telling it like it is.

Saying that the AFL are picking and choosing with the Spirit of the Law.

Said that GWS shouldnt have been able to pick uncontracted players with less than 5 years at club.

Said that the AFL knew what they were doing putting Allen in charge who admitted it was "like putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank".

You guys are almost as 'good' as journalists at Fairfax papers. Some actual news would be good instead of just telling us that Barrett is on song. :p

The club has obviously a new founded aggressive mind set to trading which is good to see :thumbsu:

With this in mind we may push for more for the Maric trade for a period of time however I don't think we will walk away from the Compensation pick offer as this will effectively mean that we have traded Maric and a 2nd round pick for Tambling which I can live with :)

Agree with you on both points......

I just dont think the Lions would still be pursuing it if it was dead in the water.
As much as some of those reporters are sphincters, they would also have some info....

Someone came onto the foxsports liveblog claiming to have heard a rumour that Brisbane want to trade pick 8 + Drummond for Tippo...

Care to elaborate for those of us who can't listen? ;)

What's he saying?

Sayin how it's hypocritical that they assess this as against the 'spirit' of the game when they allowed Scully and Davis to be taken at other times when that wasn't in the 'spirit'.

That no court of law would uphold the 'sirit of the rules' rather than how the rules are written.

That they rushed into this to get the teams up and running.

He agrees the trade shouldn't happen but says that they shouldn't be able to pick and chose what they think is against the spirit of the rules when they want. All in or nothing.

You no longer wield a whip so I'll do what I want.

TWR- "Richmond are offering a 2nd pick but Adelaide want the comp pick in order to get another deal done''

Crows asking for a draft pick for Armstrong. Probable 3 way trade.

Apparently we are having trouble filling our list?...

If we keep getting draft picks for everything, it's very likely my man Nutta Callinan will get an upgrade!!! Especially if we nab a 17 year old.

Noble: "You told us Tambling would come good. YOU LIED!!!"

Richmond: *s*******

Noble: *grabs Richmond list manager by the throat and begins squeezing*

Richmond: *gasping for air* "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Here have the Bock pick back."

Noble: *squeezing harder* "Do you think that's going to make up for what you did? Bock was an All-Australian; you gave us Richard ****ing Tambling."

Richmond: *barely audible* "okay okay you can have anything you want. p..p..pleease don't kill me."

Rucci and Five AA have clearly proven to me that Trade Week radio is the way to go. Listining to 5aa last night was cringe worthy.

"If we can get Pick 10 from Brisbane, lets get a deal"
"I can't find Jack Redden's profile on the Crows website"

Haha, that was hilarious ;)

I can't get TWR :(

Can listen to 5AA, SEN, stream every other internet radio station in the world.... But not TWR!

EDIT - WTF, why did we knock back the Bock pick for Ivan!?

I'm all for us playing hard-ball, but we don't need to be unreasonable w***ers at the same time.

Remember what happened to Carlton last year when they were unreasonable about Jacobs; the deal got done while they were posturing and they ended up with less.

Its pretty much been said but Barrett is insisting that the law is the law. The AFL dont have the right to determine whether these transactions are in the spirit of the law. He said for example, was pinching Scully in his second year at Melbourne in the spirit of the law?

The AFL are trying to interpret their own rules on the fly and really have no right. If the rules allow it, they shouldnt be interfering.
