so if we used pick #24 to get Howard from the Bulldogs would people then be happy about the Gunston Trade?
I would like to think that's what we are gonna do, but probably not.

What i dont get, is how do GC get pick 1, and us pick 2?

They traded pick 4 and mid round 1 combo, we traded pick 10 and combo pick directly after your first pick.

The way it works out, is GWS get pick 4 in a weak draft, and around pick 10 in next years super draft. With our offer, its pick 10 in the weaker draft, and a good chance at a top 3 pick in the super draft due to the fact of their high likelihood of finishing bottom.

Personally, i think our offer is better, what would you take?

The compo picks we traded are identical, you're getting confused over two different pieces of language that mean the same thing. They then added #4, and we added #10. Therefore the GC offer is better.

Also the compo pick is attached to our finishing place, not GWS

It is definetly the Middle of round 1 compo pick that is involved in the Jaeger deal, which is not as good as our round 1 compo pick.

Giants set sights on Redleg Brown

Despite being overlooked in last year's national draft, Brown has made significant strides in his development this season, playing three finals in his 20 league matches with the Redlegs.
"He's been outstanding for us," Norwood operations manager Mark Ross said.
"He's improved in every facet of his game in the last 12 months. As the season has gone on he has become more confident, he can beat a man one-on-one now and is quite strong in the air.
"And he can actually play a lot of positions. He was a young midfielder who played down back and now you can put him on the wing, he can play on-ball and he can kick goals.

"He's the modern-day AFL player, he's fast and he can kick it well. That's what they (AFL clubs) look for."

"He was super in the national champs," Phillips said of Brown, a 175cm and 70kg player.
"My intention was for him to play against the two stronger teams in Vic Metro and WA, which enabled him to stay with Norwood at league level as long as possible.
"The two games he played, he played on some highly-rated players and beat them quite convincingly. That certainly elevated his chances of being drafted."

Well they're not the same. The GC pick is a mid round (after the bottom clubs have all had their picks) and our offer is a selection after our 1st round selection. Who knows where this could be... but you'd assume it'd be a pretty good pick. .

GC gave them a mid 1st round compo pick (to be taken after the non-finalists) that was originally Geelong's as one of the Ablett compo picks.. Geelong kept the pick that is tied to their ladder position..

We are supposedly offering the pick tied to our ladder position..

If gws get our compo pick, it is tied to OUR ladder position in the year that gws activate it..

So if they get it from us, if we have pick 5 next year and they activate it, it will be a pick 6 for them..

No, you're incorrect - the GC have offered the immediately after your first round pick compensation selection related to Gary Ablett. It's identical to the Phil Davis one, they're just using confusing language.

There's no such thing as the pick you have described. Compensation picks come in the following flavours:

Immediately after your first round pick (Davis, Ward, half of Ablett, half of Scully)
End of the first round (Bock, Palmer, other half of Ablett, other half of Scully)
Immediately after your second round pick (Krakouer)
End of second round pick
End of third round pick
End of fourth round pick

Nah that's wrong. Band 1 is two picks: One pick immediately after the highest ranked club who didnt make the finals, and one pick immediately after your own. GC traded the former of those two picks.

Pitchfork and petrol at the ready.

If this Gunston deal is seperate, which it looks like it is, why the hell didnt we go for something better? 18 from the Roo's for starters. We could then get a better deal from GWS with it, lets say MD 2 and pick 8 + Brown. We are not even sure we are getting 14!!!!! I dont buy that the Hawks are kicking into our kitty with GWS.

Fine. Clearly then the GWS rates pick 4 this draft and pick 9/10/11/12/13/14 in the next draft more than 10 in this draft and 3/4 next draft.

SANFL will be good next year. Magarey Medalist??? ;)

Who?

I would have thought Crouch would be completing his HSC in Victoria, and given the rather pathetic nature of our midfield this Brown may not get enough Norwood games to poll.

I'm confident I read that Crouch will be finishing studies this year.

Terry Wallace on Sports Radio over here just said the mail at Trade Week where he's been all day is Adelaide are into the Bombers Cale Hooker in a big way, looking for a KPD to replace Davis.
