How does the sanfl draft work for afl players? Seeing as North Adelaide lost davis do they get an extra or preference pick?

Nope, that's a luxury of having the player recruited from you club in the first place.

Don't know if this has already been posted but here are Emma Quayle's thoughts on Brad Crouch:

this year he'd be 3 or 4 (if you put o'meara in the mix too). He's one of my real favourites this year

This means she rates him above one of either Conigilo or Patton (e.g Patton, JOM, Crouch and then Conigilo). Just a thought...

No they didn't, North Adelaide lost a player when he was drafted to the crows in 2008. Adelaide lost the player. Very different.

Therefore, no north Adelaide won't be compensated any different to any other year.

What about a player that wasn't from that club originally?

Same deal, bad luck. SANFL clubs can go out and sign whoever they want whenever they want so it's not as though they can't replace him even without the draft.

Yeah i was forgetting that Davis was already from north i was more asking about a player such as crouch that gets drafted to the crows.
What then happens if this player then leaves the crows? But ruscy has now answered it.

If we get Crouch and Brown. All I can say is...............

There can be no doubt we got reamed in the Gunston trade.

However, that's not to say this trading period overall was a failure, that will depend on what eventuates by Monday.

Assuming we end up with MD2 and Brown and lose pick 10 and compo pick, it would give us:

Adelaide Lose: Gunston, 10, Compo Pick
Adelaide Gain: 24, MD2, Brown

I obviously don't think 3rd/4th rounders are worth mentioning and my opinion is we still come out having lightly lost overall.

For Adelaide to come out on top in this period I think we would need to win on the Maric and Armstrong trades, or gain an extra pick from the MD2 deal.

Will wait till Monday before judging.

Don't forget, Noble said it's all pieces in the puzzle and that we're chasing a big fish. Hope whatever we're after comes through but we all need to be patient. Monday's a long way away.
