From the man who pulled the trigger...
“[Perkins] wasn’t interested in doing a contract extension,” Ainge said. “He wanted to test the market.” It was reported that the Perkins rejected a four-year $22 million offer from the team. Perkins was reportedly asking for $30 million over the same period.

Jeff Green is young and has talent. He is what we need to defend Carmelo and LeBron in playoff series. If we can resign him we have a bit of a better future. Jermaine is also supposed to be coming along fine. Nate was nothing but a chucker. Sure he bought energy in big games but he also wasn't gonna get minutes with Delonte. This trade gives Von Wafer playing time he knows how to score fast. We would've won the championship if Perkins played purely because he is a good rebounder and we couldn't grab a board to save ourselves in game seven nothing else. I'm happy with the trade even though perk is one of my favourite celtics and always will be I wish him the best in OKC and look forward to seeing him play for them. The Celtics are also not done. We will probably pick up Troy Murphy and maybe somebody else. Sheed could be insurance in case one of the O'Neals goes down. The trade is a win for both teams in my opinion.
