Trades- Round 3

Gor: I would go Ward instead of Shields. Hawks have more depth and 1 or 2 bad games and he could be dropped. Ward is a star and won of my favourite players. Plus Ward will score big agianst GCS this week.

$300 away from making it Ward instead of Shiels :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

WCE-Phill, I have Heppel, Lower, Duigan, Stanley and Obrien in defence.
Kraks, Harris, Bewick, and will have Libba in mids, and have Darling, Matera and Richardson in the forwards.

My Obrien question was more in the hope that he would rise enough to maybe let me upgrade him to Enright next week, while also having enough cash left to maybe upgrade Fyfe(depending on his score this week) to Pavlich.

Obrien i dont know to much about. You have plenty of cash cows in defence. I would go the upgrade to Enright

Please help! What trade would you do out of the following?

Out - Iles & Swallow
In - Sucking & Curnow

Out - Iles & Swallow
In - Curnow & Libba + $95k

I have no idea....

Can any Freo supporters (or Mark Harvey if you read this) :) shed some light on Palmer????

Sooooooooooooo much potential but is this outrageous "sub" thing going to happen all year???

I dont want to trade him out...... but oh the pain when I see him in thosse pretty coloured tops.

Cheers

Gonna roll the dice and go Hayes -> Embley, Atley -> Libba. Make some money from them and then upgrade to Pendles after the Pie bye.

I'm thinking of correcting some small mistakes in my squad this week and bringing Pendlebury in on Friday.

He could be priced at $500K+ after R6. Blokes like Libba, Curnow, D Swallow might be ~$250K by then, but that leaves you needing another ~$250K to finance the trade. The only way I can see someone executing that upgrade at that time is if (i) they've kept a wad of cash in bank or (ii) they do a heavy downgrade this week on "failed" mid-pricers like Foley, Everitt, Astbury.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to afford that trade, but good luck with your plan.

Palmer is not that good. Making him sub limits his opportunities to turn the ball over.

Yer could be the wise option as long as Swallow out-performs his price by the same amount as Curnow & Libba
Even if he doesn't you still need to factor whether one trade would be worth x amount of gain.

You'd be wanting Libba/Curnow to be netting you at least $80k more than Swallow would before considering the trade.

What are Duffield owners doing?

Two poor scoring games, but his role has not changed.

I am thinking of trading in Grimes, but given Duffield has been a proven performer for two years now I'm afraid he will hit his straps soon, and that the trade wont net many points. Plus there is the fact I picked him over Grimes for his durability. Seems too reactive to trade after two weeks.

Yeah........hard one to get a grip on.....do you trade Swallow for a cheapie??? I'm struggling with the same decision....was/is Swallow overpriced???

He won't be subbed often according to Mark Harvey's comments in the Pav article on the AFL website.

Personally I think he's a guy to stick with, over 50 in 2 games where he's been subbed off is good going.

Shoudln't really be wasting trades swapping cash cows for cash cows, although Conca is worse and costs a little more than Libba/Curnow... IMO do one if you have to, not both.

Same with Swallow. I didn't pick him mainly cos of his higher price and the fact that GC as a team won't score many points, but if I did pick him I wouldn't be getting rid of him after his first game...

Duffield is a tough one. I'd stick with him. I'm kinda in the same boat with Broughton. Picked him as a keeper, and while he hasn't done great, I don't want to jump off until maybe mid season if he hasn't lifted. Ditto for a guy like Goddard (although everybody's got him)

Even though it's DT taboo, I'm tempted to do a straight trade to Enright.

Duffield's been my worst performed starter, and that includes my rookies. One more bad week and his enormous price drop will probably mean that I'm stuck with him.

What are peoples thoughts on this as a trade, some may say its sideways I'd say strategic.

Selwood -> Pendlebury

+

Foley -> Curnow to pocket 130k.

My theory behind this is, Pendlebury is at what I believe will be his cheapest price of the year, Selwoods price is going to drop considerably after his first few price changes, to somewhere near the 300k mark. Unless of course he scores 2 almost unheard of scores in a row.

Meaning I get Pendlebury in before he becomes almost too expensive, or at least before a point where I need to make a lot of down trades to get the cash up. After the round 6 bye of Selwood he will be at his lowest price of the year, I will have one of my rookies, most likely Bewick at a price of around 205k given he plays the next few games, with the 130k I have in the bank from the Foley to Curnow trade I should in be able to upgrade Bewick back to Selwood.

Leaving me with Pendlebury, Selwood and Curnow as bench cover come round 7, instead of Selwood, an under performing declining in value Foley and Bewick as bench cover.

The other advantage of this for me is the fact that in round 6 I have Rioli, Franklin, Sandilands, Broughton and potentially Selwood, if I don't do this trade missing, which is going to make it very difficult to post a 2100+ score.

Thoughts?

What are Duffield owners doing?

Worrying and thinking a lot!

Seriously, I've got a "idea from left-field" plan for Duffield, which basically involves trading him down to a rookie-pricer, and using the cash to upgrade Foley to a super-premium in the MIDS. Everyone else with Foley seems to be trading in the other direction, down to Libba/Curnow!

Unfortunately, that will use up 2 trades to produce a structure that I should have had from the start, but it just feels right. I'm hopeful of picking up a solid replacement D5 in around R7-8, perhaps Brian Lake on the cheap.

Well i think Ill be jumping off the Duff. While he is playing the same role, he doesn't appear to have as much freedom, either that or his direct opponent has meant hes had to be more 'in check' defensively. I know Roger Hayden is out, and he often takes the mid sized forward or a small, while Duff had a bit more to do defensively on the weekend.

Even so, people do sideways trades for injuries of 4 weeks, perhaps for a total gain of 100-150pts. Grimes would only have to play 10-15 games at a 10ppg greater avg to replicate this, and if he remains injury free than the gains may be well worth it. In the end its a gut decision. Every time i post a comment about the Duff i keep changing my mind about him as I type its so frustrating
On Grimes' injuries, it has mainly been a recurring back injury, sometimes affecting the hamstring too, from what I have read. I have not seen any minor strains or symptoms of this returning to him in the last 12 months, except for the hamstring but I dont know if it was related.

If it was lockout yesterday, Id already have Grimes in, but now Im considering the risk again and contemplating keeping him. After all, a keeper is a keeper, and trades are a valuable commodity

I don't think Joel Selwood will be anywhere near the 300K mark, unless of course he scores 2 almost unheard of scores in a row ;)
