I think we shiuld look to get meeson or wood as back-up ruckman. The value of ruckman is significantly increasing and king and ottens are getting on whilst blake wont be elite i dont think

Nah, don't forget about Trent West.
Isn't one of our problems that we're not sure which ruckmen to play? Why bring another one into the mix?

Both would be looking to go to a team where they have a reasonable chance to play senior footy. Ie Saints and Dogs.

Besides we have the West Machine, who will be a gun.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mark Johnson down at the club next year. If he get him cheap it adds experienced depth to our list.

Also would love a tall CHB that can develop. Someone like Brad Moran would be nice.

although i think we need young key defender we lo ned a ruckmn king is useless and blake will nevr be a dominant ruck go forward ruckman so we should draft a young one or grab meesan. i don't think we need moran i think north melbourne won't be giving him away easily therefore we will probaably have to give good pick for him.

I think Adelaide will try to hold onto Meesen as much as the Roos will with Moran. I'd really like to see us go after Moran though. The guy's 200cm and is extremely mobile. Could play the guy anywhere. I think he even ran with Nathan Buckley in one game last year.

Are people basing their Meesen calls on the fact that he was, a few years ago, drafted as an early first rounder?

Because, to date, he's done nothing (at AFL or, perhaps more tellingly, at SANFL as far as I'm aware) to warrant the love ahead of a guy like Blake (who's done/shown so much more and yet still seems to be rated lower than Meesen in this thread).

I'm not discounting any Meesen trade, or whatever, but honestly, some perspective on reality please. He's done jack all to date.

he is a 200cm young ruckman!!!!!
Dont you realise they take time to develop into there bodies! Plus the kid had a knee injury most of this year.
Will be a star this kid saw him as a junior id have him at geelong no worries!

Meeson looked pretty good against Brisbane in the NAB cup and was good last year in the SANFL. King, Ottens, Blake would be ahead of him and West is going to be pushing for selection in 2008 I think. We need someone who will be ready in 3-4 years, we don't need him now.

I think Geelong should pick one of the many ruckmen available in the draft. Add a KP backmen and maybe a midfeilder who can play back with our last pick. Wouldn't mind picking up that Thompson kid either.

Let's put it this way. I think, you would be in need of a mobile ruckman to compliment Ottens, and I think that Moran would be a perfect fit for your team. Question is, what would you be willing to give up for him, because I like many Roos supporters would not want to give up much for him, because his potential upside is HUGE. If he learnt to read the play in the 2's he will be an awesome CHB. Recorded a draft camp sprint time record, and is 200cm. He can also spoil.

Out of curiousity, where does Spencer fit into your team mix, and what price would a club have to pay to get him? 2nd Rounder?

Yeah, because every team wants Spanner.
I think we'd take almost ANYTHING for him, much to my dismay.

I not against trading but really I dont see why we should be looking at players unless than can add something to our mix now. The draft/ Rookie list should be used to build your list and in doing that one might find your list has failed to develop in one area. It here a trade is worth the price.

Now that Ottens is playing as our #1 ruck,Blake has taken the leap in level asked of him and West is still deloping we are fine in the ruck( barring injuries). For mine, if the right player comes our way draft day we will not need Meesen.Whos' the right play .I don't know but I think Geecat wants a Big Mac come draft day and he sounds capable in the ruck and up forward. If not , then I say lets Rookie someone who's athletic enough to play the modern game but may need time to polish the skills.

Are you serious, cause I thought/when is saw him, that he was always pretty good, and just couldn't crack it into the cats side because of players like Egan and Scarlet ahead of him.

I love the guy, but he's crap. Can't play for sh!t, really.

I think he is someone that we would be comfortable with trading...

Would Brent Prismall be someone you might give up for him?

Na mate, he will stay here st our club, his one of my favo young geelong footballers....

I understand that you all will obviously want to keep him...

BUT... does he want to stay at the GFC?

Wants to play senior footy (hasnt played since round 5 i think?)....

Unlucky too, the cats are the only team where he wouldn't make the 22...

Peter Street is about 300cm - and pretty much useless.
Trent West is developing well and is 198cm - while not as tall as Ottens and King, he's good material.

He broke his arm and has only really come back. He would be in the team if it wasn't for that.

I have decided I think our team is perfect how it is. Our best 22 should not be touched. By all means trade guys like Brynes, D.J, Prismall & so forth. But only as a last resort and only if it frees up room in our salary cap to ensure our best 22 stay together.

We must keep our team together. Going to be very hard to hold onto them though.
