Re: Training 26/5/09

Cheers Efcboy. Hope Myers plays forward this week, would like to see him as that 3rd target up forward, with that boot of his I can imagine him slotting a few from outside 50.

Re: Training 26/5/09

Thanks.

How about Prismall & McVeigh?

didn't notice prismall - not certain he was there but he probably was (from a distance he and reimers look similar).

mcveigh looked to be moving ok but was with the mod group a bit given he played on sunday. i think he needs another hitout in the vfl to get his fitness up to scratch.

Re: Training 26/5/09

Thanks efcboy.
Just in case people were wondering, I've been asked to clean up our stickies, so the Training reports and Injury Updates have been moved to the 'Player Watch' sub-board. I'll merge this with the rest of the training reports soon, and if these reports become as popular as they were, I'll move them back onto the main board.
Cheers.

Would have thought Reimers boots where the give away :D

Re: Training 26/5/09

Both Watson and Myers spent a bit of time practicing their goalkicking. Not sure what to read into that for Myers.

In for NLM maybe up forward? To those who watched him as a junior did he play much in the forward line?

Re: Training 26/5/09

I would love to see Myers up forward, think it would be a great move by Knighter.

totally agree. Would be interesting to see how he'd go, & I think he'd benefit at this stage of his career. That "goal" he kicked after the half-time siren the other week was ****ing awesome

Training Session 02/06/09

Firstly, Alan Ezard came down to training today and ran a couple of drills. He also spoke to the playing group on the ground and later in the rooms. Had a chat with him, first time he has been down the club in about 5 years. He is very happy with the clubs direction and even more happy with the improvement of facilities. He is currently coaching at Noble Park.

A couple of observations,

- Winderlich didnt participate in training per se. He was tracksuited up and only used to handball to groups. No running or anything. Pretty sure (not 100%), that Hank Slattery didnt train either. Helped out with handballing only.
- Laycock and Gumbleton watched on from the sidelines, before moving on to the pool.
- The 1st injured group consisted of Williams, Hurley, Dempsey doing sprints, handballs (including Hurley handballing) and other light work.
- The 2nd injured group consisted of Magin, Nash and Klemke doing constant laps.
- Fletcher, Reimers, Prismall and Welsh trained strongly. None appeared to struggle in any of the drills and all looked very comfortable.
- I spoke to Bellchambers who stated he is out for 4-6 if all goes well. He had his knee bandaged and was walking in a lot of pain. obviously, he did not participate at all and watched on.
- Alan Richardson ran a kicking drill with Michael Quinn towards the end. Geez his kicking skill have improved phenomenly. His action is still slightly awkward, but the ball went lace out most times.
- Tyson Slattery did mark drills with GOD towards the end as well. Concentrating on his marking timing.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask and jog my memory.

Re: Training 26/5/09

Thanks for the report.
Good news bout Fletch! Think he could be back this week?
And with Dempsey in the injured group, does this mean he may not be ready to play this week?

BTW, scared me there when you said T. Slatts did drills with 'GOD'. Didn't know he was a Bombers fan ;)

Re: Training 26/5/09

Thanks for the report SS. Top job.

Good to hear Quinn's coming along. I've got big hopes for that boy. And good to hear that Hurley's handballing -- maybe the "scaphoid=12 weeks" theories won't apply in his case. Dempsey doing sprints sounds promising, too, as it wasn't a big structural thing.

Haha sorry about that.

Fletch is probably still a couple off. I reckon they will be conservative with him given his importance to the structure and vintage.

Dempsey looked to be pain free so I reckon he'll return. Prismall would be very close too. Moving and turning well

Re: Training 26/5/09

Thanks SS. Hoping both Prismall and Dempsey can play this week.
Haha vintage....you make Fletch sound like a fine wine...(or cheese!)
Anyway, our injuries aren't as worrying as I first thought...It's only our ruck division that's thin.
Guys like Prismall, Reimers, McVeigh, Welsh etc., just need the playing time!

Good to hear, can wait to see Prismall and Reimers back for the Bombers

Re: Training reports

*BUMP*

Will be going to training tomorrow morning, anyone have any special requests?

Also, hopefully Whomb reads the thread; I'd like to create a new thread for each training report if that's okay? As stickies have asked to be cut down a little on the main board, I think a new thread for each report works well and posted on the main board. Don't think many would read them in this sub-forum.

Would be good if you could see how Welsh, McVeigh, Winderlich, Slattery, Fletcher, Reimers and Prismall (recent 'ins') train?

Yeah that's cool, and I agree. They were moved here by request of one of the superiors; they've definitely stopped getting attention since then though. I'll merge them into the stickies after a week or so though, or once people stop replying; just so it's easier for people to look back over old reports.

Re: Training reports

Sounds good to me Whomb. Thanks for the reply mate.

Re: Training reports

Hey guys,

Quick question.

I am tossing up whether to get up at 8 tomorrow morning to make my way across to see the boys train.

It says there is a skills session at 10.20am, so what time should I try to get there, and what usually goes on, how long is it? etc.

Much appreciated.
