Posted in the injury thread and meant to post it here. Any signs of Nick Daicos running again today? His transition into lateral movement and into drills ahead of a semi/prelim is all care about at this point.

Lateral movement for a tibial plateau fracture should be as much of a formality as running faster. The knee isn’t unstable, so it’s just a matter of gradually putting more on his plate, and constantly checking it’s not increasing his soreness.

Will he be a big risk of reinjury if he returns to play (or training) and he has a knee-on-knee or some other sort of direct impact? Or do we suspect his bone will be fairly well healed and right now it's all about retaining strength and conditioning?

Once he returns, he’s the same risk of injury from a direct collision/blow as everyone else.

Tuesday - Main Session. - Qualifying final.

This morning, post training it was announced the club had reached a record membership numbers. They did a bit of celebration around that with photos and gave away signed footies, which I have one.

There was no signs of how they would go selection wise, except its now confirmed it'll be two rucks. Although fly did float the idea of one being a sub, just wasn't sure yet.

The boys focused a lot on clearance and contested ball, given that's something dees are good at. So some of these drills were catered to what they will find come thurs. Also, the pressure drill they do fairly often, which is more about applying pressure to the ball carrier.

Blacks.

  • Lippa
  • JDG
  • IQ
  • Maynard
  • Elliott
  • Mitchell
  • JDaicos
  • Pendles
  • Mcstay
  • Adams
  • DC
  • Sidebottom
  • Hill
  • Moore
  • Beau
  • WHE
  • Markov
  • Howe
  • Mihocek
  • Cox (swapped to white whilst in the ruck opposite DC)

Whites

  • Bianco
  • Noble
  • Wilson
  • Kreuger
  • Allan
  • Frampton
  • Macrae
  • Draper
  • Ruscoe
  • Ryan
  • Crisp
  • Murley
  • Murphy
  • Richards
  • Ginni
  • HH
  • Begg
  • Dean
  • Steene

Didn't see Carmichael, don't think.

WHE trained with the defenders when they did the line groups.
The likes of Lippa and Draper trained with the mids.

Midfield.
Black - Pendles, De Goey, Mitchell
White: Allan, Macrae, Crisp

Defence (black): Moore. Howe. WHE. Maynard. Markov. IQ v (white) Begg. Kreuger. Wilson. Richards. Ginni. HH
Forward (Black): Lippa. Adams. Hill. Checkers. Mcstay. Elliott v (White) Frampton. Noble. Rusoce. Draper. Murphy. Ryan

There was a lot of kicking to a contest, then chipping the ball around, using the corridoor and kicking it forward. They know what is required when the conditions and facing melbourne and trying to counter act some of the things they may throw at us.

No Johnson, but Reef was back out there, doing some running; so while wade said he had been too sore to run yet, clearly there has been an improvement in that aspect at least.

Any news on when the boys do their first training again? Wondering how we’ll manage the week off again and the disadvantage that seems to be since the pre finals bye

Maybe Monday, wed and either Friday or sometime on the weekend.

It was mostly bruise free footy to begin with. It was a bit more compeitive later on. But you'd often find one player of ours playing for the saints. Harrison. Murley. Bianco were the ones. The saints were very happy with Harrison when he got picked, he was just killing them with his pace.

Draper. Allan. Macrae in the midfield were really good.
Noble had this great contest late in the match sim, did some good things.
Kreuger really competed and did very well.
Ryan did some good things, was nice to see him back.
Ruscoe and Bianco did what they tend to do. Very workmen like.
Frampton was okay.
Harrison was very impressive early.
Begg rucked all morning. Steene was up forward then hurt his ankle or leg during a contest. Didn't come back on, but hopefully just minor.

Carmichael or Dean didn't play. They did a running session earlier this morning though.
Nick was around supporting the boys.
Reef, DC came through and hung out at the front.

There was no Ginni. Thought he might play given he only played 10 mins thurs, but guess not. They probably just had him do extra running instead.

Interesting Murley changed teams. I wrote him off a while ago but I get this feeling we might keep him on one more year. I'd choose him over Richards for sure.

Harrison is one that I think will explode next year. Fans are easy to say "oh he only gets 12 a game in the VFL" but it's the quality of those disposals and his strength and pace that make him a good player.

Training is tomorrow 3:30
Tuesday and Friday 9:30

Probably light session tomorrow, main session tuesday then treat Friday's session like a game.

I also think HH will explode next year. He like Ginni is the type not to get huge numbers at the lower level, but just explode at senior level. I think HH will be like this soon enough, he looked comfortable from the get go. But since his senior games, his numbers at VFL level are higher, and he is getting involved a lot more as he is getting more midfield time.

I liked what I saw when HH had his time in the seniors. He looked at home at that level.

He did, which is not an easy thing to do at a young age.
