Mega Thread TRAINING REPORTS

Viv will make the enviable call to mum and dad tonight. Mundy and Barlow are huge outs, though. Even one of them would diminish the excitement. It'll be an absolutely... the gutsiest moment in the club's history if we win.

Yeah, I find Barlow's injury interesting because I recently snapped the radial bone in my arm (clean off) at the elbow. I had a plate and some screws installed and felt surprisingly fine. It hurt a little for about a week. But within a week I was able to most everything with no pain. My only problem was that I had no strength in the arm as they had to cut and re-attach the muscle. Obviously Barlow won't have that problem...

So what you're saying is his injury is nothing like yours?

No what I'm saying is if I felt fine and able to do things after a week after such a severely broken arm, I'm sure he will be able to play after what appears to be a relatively minor break of his jaw.

You felt fine, but if you copped a hit in the same area are you risking another fracture or something worse.

Fremantle FC have played it safe all year with injuries, and I dont see it change now.

Let us all be honest for a second also: Do you not think with someone named VIVIAN in the side it would not AUTOMATICALLY make us better? Because I do.

Vivian. Such a good name.

But there's plenty of differences:

• Michael Barlow and you
• The staff who'll be assessing him every day, probably a few times each day
• The lack of self-diagnosis for Barlow and realisation that this is his livelihood
• Further risking injury mightn't have been an issue for you, but it's different at an AFL club
• A dozen more

All of which points towards Barlow being likely to be available. And being as though my job depends on being able to use my arms and my preferred arm was the one that was injured, re-injury was a potential problem. Besides, I never said, "hey, I had exactly the same injury as Barlow and therefore know he will be available because I was fine". I said "I find Barlow's injury interesting", in the, "I wonder what his recovery time will be like" sense.

Except he didn't get on the plane.

Being available and being chosen are two different things. For what it's worth, I think Freo did the right thing not taking any risks, but that doesn't necessarily mean he couldn't play.

Bump. Somebody tell me that Pav, Sandi, Mundy, Barlow and Spurr are ripping it up on the training track and MJ and Pearce are doing light jogging but should be right for the weekend please.

Far out ladies and lads not training reports  no 'giving great effort'.

Pull up your socks and life your game.

I'll be on holidays from next week so the standard will lift. :p

Haha did you see in McPharlin's presser after the game he actually said 'we didn't give great effort.'

Me too (on holidays I mean) - I think I might even wander down with my young fella for a squizz. There was a time when I was the only one doing these training reports... of course they were nowhere near as detailed and the analysis was not as in-depth, but I tried. In hindsight, I thought I was giving great effort, but it has taken the current dedicated group to really show what giving great effort means. Clearly I was a victim of the CC era - a really good coach like RTB could have brought out the best in me, but sadly I retired before my unfulfilled potential could be reached. Thank goodness for the regulars of the Salim Malik stand.

Contrary to popular belief, he isn't our first Vivian.

I'm sure you all can recall the spring-haired, monobrowed exploits of one Kingsley Vivian Hunter.

Hi everyone, with a Sunday game this week training is usually on the Wednesday and Friday. The rehab and WAFL guys would have only trained today.

That's why we have no training report today, unless Salim or one of the others popped in today.

I'll be heading down tomorrow for a squiz, unless Salim tells me otherwise.
