He was fit for 3/4 of the season last year, it's just that Jurg preferred Firmino. Still believe he has a big role to play, Firmino is not as effective against busses like Studge is

Studge when fit is an unbelievable striker, his talent deserves to be at a CL club

I'm not sure we can get Keita done, Leipzig will keep asking for more and more, we bid 50 and they will want 60

If Van Dijk forces it then we'll sign him, if he doesn't then we'll go after K2 who will cost almost as much. So might as well just shell out for VVD if Jurg wants him so much

Agent Sadio is on it.

From memory the problem was that the quarter of the season when he was injured coincided with Coutinho and Mané also being out, at the time when we needed him most.

That probably doesn't help. Only made 20 apps last season for 3 goals in the PL.

40m won't happen.
But injury wasn't his issue, he'll stay at Liverpool as most scousers want. You made the joke about him staying and being injured, I just pointed out he barely was last season.

So what was he doing for the other 18 games he wasn't selected? Not good enough? That's almost 50% of the season he missed for one reason or another.

He's clearly good enough, Firmino just had the runs on the board to start in front of him. I suspect that will change this season.

Is he? 3 goals in 20 appearances last season.

He's shown it previously but he'll always be a big risk for whichever club he's at.

Only played 769 mins total in the league. That's equivalent to a tick over 8 full games.

Talk mid-season was that the fear factor that had crept in for him, and while he was in exceptional touch and regularly creating opportunities for himself and others, he wouldn't push himself to sprint at 100% which meant that he couldn't play his role in the press, and Klopp couldn't or wouldn't trust him over Mané or Firmino.

Still an exceptional player but Klopp is extremely strict when it comes to the defensive responsibilities he places on his front 3.

Had potential but ultimately Moyes' departure and the fact we splashed a lot of money on players ready meant he was never going to make it at united.
No the real reason he was never gonna make it at United was because he was just a bit shit.

Latest on Liverpool from 4-5 of the more reliable journos:

Salah - all but done. £35m + £4m in add ons. £90k/week. Will wear #9 from the sounds of things. Great signing.
Keita - still in play, club are prepared to pay £50m+ for him and are confident of getting a deal done but RB Leipzig will likely put up stiff resistance.
Van Dijk - still very keen on a move to Anfield, but any move will rely on him forcing Southampton's hand e.g. making a transfer request.
Oxlade-Chamberlain - wants out in order to further his career and likes the idea of playing for Klopp. With 12 months left on his contract Liverpool won't pay much more than £20m for him. Chelsea & City also interested.

Lucas, Markovic, Sakho & Moreno
all expected to move on. Sturridge will only leave if both he and the club are satisfied with the club and the offer (LFC seeking £40m for him). Klopp will only pursue a striker if Sturridge leaves, and is apparently happy with our options at CF (Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Mané, Ings, Solanke) as they are.

Nothing concrete on us signing a LB yet but I'd be very surprised if we didn't replace Moreno, just for something different hopefully we sign one with at least half a brain this time.

Will they pull all of this off? Who knows, it looks set to be an exciting summer in any case. Insane amounts being thrown around.
A reliable journo wouldn't link us to Ox

(Unfortunately) I agree with Cooldude and jod23 in that being shit was the more likely reason he didn't make it. Obviously not Sunday league standard but at best lower Premiership club standard.

Getting 11m for him is pretty good though.

I read somewhere he was in the Matchday squad 33 out of 38 league games. He was just riding the pine. As for 3 goals in 20 games, a lot of the time he would come on for 5 or 10 minutes at the end of the game. Difficult to get goals in those situations.

I'm very happy for him to stay.

For less than £20m everyone should be into him
Pass. Not because he's a gooner either (which'd mean they'd never sell). Just pass.
