I guess differing scenarios. Payet wanted to go back home because of family reasons and took a pay cut to make the deal happen.

Barca want Coutinho as their star recruit suddenly because Neymar left out of the blue and are desperate to sign a high profile replacement. He'll be getting a pay rise too if he joins Barca. Barca have just received a cheque for £200m, replacements for Coutinho are hard to find this late in the window and Lallana is out for the next 2 months.

These factors added together are why figures of £137m are being bandied about. Doubt those sorts of fees would be talked about if Neymar hasn't been sold but in that case Coutinho likely wouldn't be moving if Neymar was still there.

Pogba was one of the best players in one of the best midfields in the world at Juventus and Lukaku scored more goals than everyone not named Harry Kane last season. Unless you've been living under a rock you would know how great Pogba was in Italy, which is why United purchased him for such a high price, an amount Juventus asked for.

It's about the players value to the club right now. As of today there are very few replacements available for Coutinho this late in the window. Lallana is out for 2-3 months. That's why transfer fees of nearly double Coutinho' s market value (70m) are being mooted. And rightly so - Barca have just banked £200m. They are clearly desperate for a big name signing.

See, you're not explaining your logic. You said that you (your opinion) have Coutinho priced at the tweets mentioned price of €150M, in between Neymar and Pogba/Lukaku, then you revised it by saying you never called it a great price.

No take-backs, your opinion is that Coutinho is worth somewhere between Neymar and Ronaldo, Bale, Pogba and Suarez. After that you shouldn't be calling anyone deluded.

Wouldn't give any credibility to those stories at all. Coutinho signed a new contract within the last 6 months and these sorts of things would have come out before if true.

It seems Barca are desperate and prepared to do anything to sign him. Interesting to see what happens if they fail with Coutinho & Dembele.

It's the fact that the stories are coming out that is more of a concern than the content. If they have come from his side (as apparently they have) it shows that he's still pushing for the move and is prepared to agitate.

I don't think you can put it all on Barca being desperate. In this cases I teckon it's more Coutinho being desperate to push the move through. This opporrunity might not be available in a years time.
