I hadn't heard that before. They both have Cape Verde Islands backgrounds, but I would have thought Fernandes is a pretty common name there. I'll ask the question on the City forums.
I think Nani's name is Fernandes as well (Nani is an abbreviation thereof)

Funny if all three are related...

There was 4 of them that lived in the same suburbs and were friends. Nani, Manuel Fernandes, Gelson Fernandes and another bloke

Makele left for PSG. Im surprised Chelsea didnt give him another year.

He's finished like integrity in American sports.

I'm surprised they gave him an extra year.

Steve Sidwell got games last year. Makele was still of some use of the bench given we now have 7 bench players.

Mikel?

Makelele still wants to play.

At Chelsea he'd rarely play.

I'm sure they'd keep him if he accepted their terms but if he does want to play regularly then he was always going to leave.

Strong rumor around that Spurs will use the Keane money and buy Arshavin. According to Zenit, Tottenham have bid 15.9 million for him. If they accept that, Tottenham have once again done very well for themselves

Arshavin>>>>Keane

empty milk carton > keane

the guy's as overrated as they get.

his goalscoring record for a higher midtable club is nothing special.

and he's not really that dangerous on the ball.

the dude doesn't have any strengths.

Good addition for the 4-7-0, then.

15.9? They want 24. They won't get it. But they'll want 18-20 minimum I'd guess.

It's established fact that I'm a massive fan of Arshavin, but, it's highly questionable whether they'll get the same level of output from Arshavin, as they would have Keane.

Not sure why Arshavin would leave ZSP in the CL to go play UEFA Cup anyway. I'm also not sure you could get both Modric and Arshavin to function at an optimum level.

They might not score goals, but their passing will be nice. :p

As AB de Villiers snares a ripper. I ****ing love that man :thumbsu: :)

Well, he scores goals. Top goalscorer in the 2007 calendar year I'm pretty sure.

Intelligent footballer. You have a good knowledge of the game Apollo/Tuck, so one can only assume it's a massive wind-up, given that it's so far off the mark :)

I still love you.

Im with you. 16 mill for Keane is one of the worst bits of business in years IMO. Hes old and he plays with a sublime player. Scores alot of easy goals. Playing as a RW, I dont think hes gonna be that much better then Kuyt. Why not buy a actual winger like Capel, Arshavin or even Arteta for a lower or equal price

I doubt he'd be playing RW.

Hopefully Gerrard goes back out there.

Arteta? :D. Yeah that'll be easy to push through. I like Arshavin, but you could hardly call him an "actual winger". I'd still have him though. Capel? Don't know a lot about him. Seems to be a bit out of the FM generation class though.

He got 23 goals in 54 appearances but hes 28 and isnt gonna fit your formation very well. Wont be a good partner for Torres either IMO. I dont get it at all.

I'm starting to think we'll be going back to 4-4-2 for the most part. Gerrard right.

I'm the other way, I think he'll be a good partner for Torres.

You have enough Spanish players. One big happy family I say. So your gonna go back to a 4-4-2 is it?

Why not get Eto in for a few mill more? Seems like Liverpool nowadays are more interested in bullying smaller clubs into selling their players rather then chasing already proven top class talent playing for big clubs. Whats there to be afraid of. This whole transfer window has been about weakening your opposition rather then improving your side. Its idiotic tactics IMO.

If Barry and Keane are Liverpools calibre of player its gonna be a matter of when as opposed to if they slip out of the top 4.

Intelligent footballer. You have a great knowledge of the game life, sex and the anus Apollo/Tuck, so one can only assume that you're just an amazing man, given that well.... you just are an amazing man. :)

right back at you but I still don't leave Keane. (surname alert!)

he might be ok and all, I guess.

17 million? most inflated transfer fee in history.

so overpriced you could make a movie out of it.

With Eto?

Much to be afraid of. The fact he's swanning around with Borat and the rest of the Uzbeks making 25m a year, probably indicates where his priorities are.

Eto/Torres might look good on paper and on footy manager, but I'm 100% sure it would be ineffective.

I don't think so Embers.

More so buying guys that qualify as homegrown in terms of champions league quotas. Dangerously short in that regard with Crouch leaving, that useless hack Pennant about to be booted as well.

well thanks for the love man but I still don't leave Keane. (surname alert!)

It's overpriced, but indications are that the initial fee isn't much more than 10m.

I don't think Keane's that great either. SAF turned down the chance to sign him in 99 when he went to Coventry, said he wasn't worth the 5mil Wolves wanted.

But most over-priced ever? He's better than Darren Bent, who also went for 17mil.

Darren Bent was also 14 years old.

And Djibril Cisse who went for 14m, Kuyt for 9m and Voronin for free.
