Sensational. Marked everything, 5 goals, was a true match winner in every sense of the word. Looking better than his 2007 season.

Great to have you back Travis.

Agree fully

Trav had McPhee on him for 80% of the game, not Tarrant (who was on Dawes).

Given it was McPhee, it's important not to get carried away with this game. However, Trav beat him comfortably, and now has a sustained patch of form for the first time since early-mid 2008.

Harry Taylor is an altogether different beast though.

Wonder how many are still calling to trade him.

Played very well tonight and has done all season

Trav was brilliant tonight, really got us off to a great start, and only had the one real downer all night when he missed from dead in front.

What I love about Trav is he is back to his gut running, CHF self, who just runs his opponents off their feet, a little like Riewoldt.

Would have set up 3-4 goals also, so was a great night all around.

Has a very good record against Geelong too, so will be interesting to see how he goes against the benchmark next week.

Rubbish. I couldn't understand what the commentators were on about there.

Trav kicked his forst 2 goals on Tarrant and was smashing him. McPhee was moved onto him as a result, got smashed even worse and they switched taz back.

Just on Tarrant, I thought Dawes was great tonight even though he didn't kick a bag of goals. Probably had the better of Taz, to be honest. He worked really hard, especially at ground level.

Tarrant was on Anthony and silvagni Dawes, well they sorta alternated but in the most part taz had Dawes.

Agree with your poet, except cloke has struggled with defenders like McPhee abd he belted him tonight, he also got taz a couple of times too

will be a good contest next week with Taylor

Since Dawes has come in its released the shackles off Cloke, no one can deny this.

Its working out to be a great partnership out there.

If only Cloke kicked that one from 15m out lol. Maybe im asking too much? it was a 7 pt play after all :D

The impression I got was that Silvagni had Dawes?

Correct and mcpharlin had cloke pre injury (McPhee at that stage was a loose half back), fwiw cloke beat mcpharlin in the air as well

Really? I thought it was Tarrant too. Although, they do look very similar to me on the field.

Either way, I was still impressed by Dawes again.

Nope, sorry, you're wrong. Tarrant played on Cloke for a chunk of the second quarter, and a bit of the 4th. McPhee started on him, and played on him most of the second half.

Tarrant will show up in Cloke's highlights twice though, once because he left Dawes to try to punch (the one Cloke snatched 15m out then missed), and one where Cloke did kick a goal on him.

In the second half he did, but Tarrant started on Dawes.

Take nothing away from Travis, he did what he had to do. Still think he needs to lead more centrally (like Dawes) once he gets full confidence back, but very happy with how he's travelling.

His best game yet. He's in some great form right now, keep it up big guy, we need you firing in September.

If Cloke shows this consistency, we win the flag. He is without doubt our most important player.

When he is firing, we're pretty much unbeatable.

The thing I've loved about Cloke this year is his aggro. He's always been a bit timid for his size in my eyes. He's been dominant in the air before ('07 and '08) but hasn't really thrown his weight around and tried to intimidate players.

He now has improved his running (back to '07 but with greater strength), is an elite mark (always been), is playing like a schoolyard bully (it's about bloody time) and has help. Travis is going to have a HUGE year.

.

McPharlin started on him, he went off and Tarrant went to him. He smashed Tarrant and they moved McPhee onto him, then he smashed him and they put Taz back on him.

"Thrashing Chris Tarrant, Cloke provided a strong-marking target for the Pies, who seem to be getting stronger across each line with each match. From his first goal, when he pounced on a loose ball and kicked mercurially from 50m out on the boundary line, Cloke was "on" last night."

"Locked in a foot race with the quicker Tarrant in the goalsquare, he kept pace and fended off his former teammate with his right arm, while gathering the ball and slapping it on his boot."

They started McPharlin on him and then tried both Tarrant and McPhee on him after McPharlin went off, but Tarrant was on him more than McPhee

You are getting a bit picky here MDC

Tarrant played a significant part of the game on Cloke and was rag dolled at times. Thought that was the most significant part Trav was just far too strong for everyone last night.

In the second Q you mention the mark 15 m out. Taz and Trav were left virtually one out in the goal sq, Taz didnt leave Dawes to come to that contest. Matthews remarked in the commentry how strong the mark was as Tarrant was in such a good position too spoil.

Trav again monstered Taz running into the goal square to kick a goal and later in the 2nd Q easy outmarked Taz one on one on the flank and kicked to Cam Wood alone in the square

When they came out after half time McPhee went back to Trav for a while. I am sure this was because Trav so comprehensively beat Taz in the 2nd part of Q2.

Trav was again too good for Taz when he was moved back ther in Q3.

Without wanting to jinx the man, or get ahead of myself Trav seems to have his head right this year. Kudos to big Dawes too - love the xtra presence in the forward line.
With the confidence gained from an impressive first 8 weeks - this should give him a platform to stamp his authority with a 50 goal season - Go Trav:thumbsu::D

Sensational.

IMO, it wouldn't had mattered who played on him. He kicked goals on Tarrant last night too. He was "on".

He has transformed his game completely IMO. The last two years, opposition have been using more of a "third tall or runner" to play on Cloke because he was more of the lead-up type, however, this season, he has found belief and confidence in his size and frame to actually never get beaten in the 1-on-1 contest and his contested marking is awesome. All of a sudden, he requires one of the actual quality backs to play on him, thus he can now expose them with his workrate and doubling back. He has really defined his all-round game.

Also, as for last night, Tarrant was swung around a bit. He definitely spent the majority of the match on Jack (have seen the replay twice), spent a about a quarter or just under on Cloke and then the rest of the time went to Dawes. It's fair to say, it was a very dirty day for Taz.
