channel 9 says he was swept out to sea after saving his wife's life.

Sounds like a bit of media "hero" glorification going by the statement his wife has just released

His wife Trisha, who is recovering in a Bangkok hospital, has released a statement describing their last moments together.

Trisha said the couple had been walking along the coast to a scenic lookout when they first realised something was wrong.

"We walked along the rocks and as we hit the sand we noticed people staring out to sea," she said.

Trisha said the pair watched in amazement as the tide came in rapidly and when they realised it was going to keep on coming Troy suggested they jump onto the balcony of a beachside bungalow.

"The wave got bigger, Troy told me to keep my head above the water because at this stage we didn't realise the force and power it had," she said.

Trisha said the powerful surge of water uprooted the bungalow in front of them which then hit her and she was swept away in the torrent.

"This was the last time I saw Troy," she said.

Nothing at all about throwing his wife off a balcony as was the original story

That is a very small story - as it doesn't say how Troy was taken and she wasn't - so perhaps the 'hero' thing is still there - depends on what Trisha wanted to say to the media.

Moving towards India? We don't have long to wait and we can get those call centre jobs back.
That, my friend (even though you are a Docker's supporter obviously) is GOLD ! We could run some tram tracks from the Elizabeth Street terminal out thru Airport West and into the heart of Chandigar.

What if ppl have have lost ppl in the tsunamis look at this board and get upset and write something down. Then you say that, then you have just made them really sad.

ok, i've been reading this thread since it started, but NOW i feel a need to post - mostly laughing my head off at this post, and its friends! Dude, you have NO idea. For the record, I'm one of those ones who are still waiting to find out if I've lost someone over there. I have found several of the posts on here insensitive at times, but none have had me reaching for the kleenex, except maybe to mop up my tears of laughter. I know you're trying to be sympathetic etc, but there's a difference between expressing sympathy and hoping people are relatively ok, whatever their situation right now, and telling people off for using SMILIES because they might upset someone - ffs if a simple smiley is gonna make them cry, they WON'T be reading anyway, believe me!

For the most part I've found your posts more painful to read than most of the other ones, simply because of your total lack of real understanding - yes there are people who right now have either lost someone or are waiting to find if they have lost someone, but it's up to each and every person to deal with it in their own way, and the rest of the world does not need you dictating how they can act in light of this. When you've gone through some real loss, let us know, and make sure you leave instructions on how we should post so as not to make you cry, because you're reading an internet messageboard instead of doing something else to deal with your loss.

HAHAHA what you mean is you don't listen to ppl who prove you to be the idiot you truly are. I think you've spent one too many days standing for 3 hours between the big sticks in the 1 spot. The sun's rays have microwaved your brain from a cashew to the size of a tic tac.

Getting back to the topic of this thread, it has been mentioned a short time ago on Fox news about a man who was found after being missing since the tsunami hit.

Hope still exists that Troy may be out there somewhere.

That guy was still on land. Troy is in the middle of the ocean.

You bitch
Oh dear, Your posting is far more offensive than anything anyone else has said on this particular thread. I have had a berevement in the past few days, it hasn't been a nice time i have cried as you do when someone you love passes away, but i have also laughed as laughter is one way to show to those of us who are in a time of grief that life does actually go on, and for a few moments things are 'normal' again if thats possible. I also had a cousin missing after the initial tsunami... thankfully he was found in a hospital with injuries, but he is alive.

This thread at times has made me laugh, and i have shaken my head at the insensitivity and name calling you have displayed. Unlike everyone else i can't even say i see what you have said that shows your heart being in the right place.

When you grow up and show people in general respect and carry yourself with some semilance of dignity then maybe what you have to say may be taken seriously. And don't even pretend to know what those of us who have been touched by this tragedy would feel or think... GROW UP!

sainter12riewoldt, I have been reading this thread and come to the conclusion that you have greatly disrespected Troy Broadbridge by taking this thread off topic with your pompous whining.

Go away and grow up!

Read all the replys. I did not take this off course. People were laughing and putting simillie faces on this thread. Other people talking about how another person died in a car crash. He was drunk they were saying.

He isnt a star. They know it, they just want to sell newspapers and its sad that they have to do this to sell papers but that is how they are. However, he is a true hero who risked his life to save another. Maybe the papers should print that instead of saying he is a star.

Im not disrespecting Troy, but Im sure ppl here would agree that he isnt a star, just an honest footabller and the papers calling him a star isnt his fault.
