I think that was when they announced that they were subbing off Josh Walker and then he was still running around taking marks :p

We should have tried that! Foley could have been the 19th man, loitering in a forward pocket for 3 and a half quarters, before we announced was a late withdrawal...

I think it's pretty clear now that against the more experienced coaches Hardwick really struggles tactically. Starting astbury on hawkins was dumb IMO. I couldn't give a stuff about what happened last year with the same matchup. Hawkins is a much better player now and Astbury has stagnated and struggled with injuries.

I was at the game and as soon as I saw it I was like "WTF, Hawkins will go nuts" and sure enough, in the first 10 mins he had 2 goals on the board and then he switches rance. Too late as it proved in the final margin. I also look at our midfield setup and there is just absolutely no continuity. At almost every ball up he has a different combination. When the whips are cracking he takes our best mids out of the guts and we get ripped. There's a reason why they score easily against us from the middle dimma. It's because you simply don't know when to have your best players in the right positions.

Reactive Dimma...
Always coaches the last game on game day...
No flair or imagination no proactive game plan...
Game/Player/Team all based on kpi...

Bassett coached Norwood mate . He's now an assistant at Essendon. He was interviewed for the Adelaide job and the Doggies job I think . I'm not sure about the sons as they were looking at Rodney Eade and don't interview many at all.

Yeah i just followed through with Calcium man saying it was North Adelaide.

There was a lot of "just yeah!" About the game.....

How were you able to watch it again though, i haven't watched any opposition games i am that frustrated.

I watched it again although did fast forward through some bits...

At the game I thought we had a real crack and was surprised at some of the vitriol on here about how the effort was shithouse after last week. Now I know why...they got that from dickhead commentators rabbiting on about it in Q1. Completely changed their tune from then on but some clowns here took it as gospel.
I thought we tried to move the ball quickly which is why the handball ratio went up, but do agree that too many times we handball just because someone is standing there. Especially if it's Dustin and Cotch. But saying that, if I was up the ground I would want the ball kicked to me by Dusty every time.
Goal kicking has killed us this year, end of story. Vickery x3, Cotchin (AGAIN), Morris, Ellis first kick (give the kid a break).

If there was one issue I would have with the setup it would be to play a 6 man forward line so that when the run and gun is on we are pumping it in to a contest. That happened in 2nd half on Sat, occasionally.

Can you tell me who would be a suitable replacement for DH?

Any one of Clarkson, Longmire, Hinkley, Lyon or Roos - if we're genuinely serious about upgrading on Hardwick.
Otherwise we're only shuffling the proverbial deck chairs. Until then I say we back Hardwick and Gale, particularly as its only Round 5.

Griggs should not be in the midfield first and foremost . He's actually played better football than a lot give him credit for this year but he's another not being played to his strengths . Run all day seagull winger but not at nearly every centre bounce .

That's where he should play, but I'll go and find a thousand posts from last year calling Grigg a soft as shit no good outside runner.

We have the players, they have proven it, shit teams and lists don't win 9 in a row, it's the players brains holding them back, it seems to me they are easily rattled, easily pushed aside, easily affected by past games, in all 3 losses they have let themselves be bullied, it's time for the players to bully back.

Yep, unfortunately they are mentally weak. They just don't have a professional game day attitude every week.

Just after Lyon went to Fremantle Pavlich stated in an interview that he thought he was professional before Lyon was coach. He had a chuckle to himself and then told the interviewer that he did not understand what it was to be professional!!

It's the coaches job to motivate and teach them to be professional. I like Hardwick but our inconsistent results and the deja vu of this season so far indicate he cannot teach our players to be professional and bring consistent intensity and effort to become a side opposition teams respect playing knowing they will get a very hard contest when the play Richmond.

You'll find mine saying it's not his fault he doesn't get dropped when he is out of form. He's a hard body that can run all day. Is actually a good over head mark when Hampson isn't trying to take him out in the air and can be given a role against the lessor teams . Can he keep Selwood quite for an entire game " No " . Our coach has NFI . Just another case of Dimma trying to fit a square peg into a round hole again .

He is but we gave that role to Ellis, now McIntosh.
