Just wondering how many divisions of the under 19's there are in the ammos? For a new club starting out, i'd guess they would be put in the lowest league, so I'm also asking what standard of competition that is.

Any help much appreciated.

How sure are you TD?? Hopefully your on the money... bout time anyhow, less then a month till round 1 and we are still waiting on the fixtures...

Given the VAFA has pushed back the start of the season until April 28 they have also announce that the remaining fixtures will not be out until next week some time.

i played u19 1 couple years back in 2004 and loved it
U19 1, great section to play in, great to be involved with......lotta quality fellas running round and still good for a laugh. brilliant footy to watch.

xavs are consistently strong and tough at it, which makes them hard to beat.

skevs regularly have talent

de la are probably the best though

all the best guys, good luck for the season

Have your life on Bernards. Lost 2 blokes from last year when they finished 3rd. Lost 2 blokes to the seniors the rest are still eligeable.

I wouldnt b having my life on bernards. Sure they will b highly competitive but it needs to be said that they didnt register a win against either of the top two sides last year.

xavs should be strong as always (but would like to no how many players they've lost because it seemed like they were all 20 last year). bernies should be good with only 2 players going up, plenty of pick ups and most of them have been playing together since they were 10. but de la are definitly the ones to beat theres no doubt theve got a good group and have the experience. anyone got any info on the new sides coming up (for example old carey).

De La have lost a few, a few of their better players amongst those, but not enough to see them move far from the top - however always have a few 19's play seniors.
Xavs have lost more than a few, but have plenty coming in and none will play seniors - so could go either way.
Bernards sound strong which is good, but certainly don't have the depth of xavs, nor de la with their 3-year-levels - so would reckon they would need some real guns to come in. But are always more than competative, and sound like this may happen, so would have some coin on them as well!
Marcellin the team to watch in my opinion.

Cheers.

why do u say that bernards lack depth? this yr they r fielding a second team and the players they have recruited are more then handy.

concluding, the 2007 season will no doubt be a very interesting one with dela, xavs and bernards the teams to beat for 07

I didn't say they lacked depth, I said they don't have the depth of:
a) Xavs, who always have players who not only fill out a seconds team (as they did last year) but who are really good players in their own right. I don't think anyone could argue that OX, generally, have the best depth of any ammo club; and,
b) De La, who draw on their year 12 students to play as opposed to just those who are out-of-school, effectively creating a team composed of players from three year levels in u-19 divison, across two teams.

I'll conceed that I probably should have placed a 'usually' in place of 'certainly' in my original post.

Agree with your conclusion at this early stage, having seen no footy yet (doesn't count for much :D)

Cheers.

Point a) Didnt their second U/19 team battle last year? That dosent really prove their great depth.

Point b) St Bernards do exactly the same thing. If not even better. Probably only one of a handful of clubs where 80-90% of their players throughout the club are school aligned.

Old Xavs 2nd side finished 4th. Ran out of legs as injuries took hold.

Running a second team is so tough because of that - you not only have to cover the injuries of your own team, but that of the team above you.

Xavs 2's lost in the finals to eventual premiers in red divison; hardly battling.
CLEARLY bernards don't do it better than de la. I don't think i need to tell you why.
