Poch picks a back 5 for a home game..
they have barely been in the ajax half.

You make it sound like he had a damn choice.
He has no attackers on the bench and 4 defenders.

We have barely any fit and available attackers or midfielders. No bloody wonder

Thank god that’s over at just 1-0. We were never scoring tonight. That was not fun to watch Pulis-ball for 90 mins doubt we start with Llorente in the away leg

Yeah one of his two choices was taken off him with Sissoko not deemed fit for 90 mins. The other one was Dier or Wanyama which in hindsight he got wrong but there’s no real guarantee Dier would be any better against that Ajax midfield either

Considering where the match looked like it was heading, it could have been a lot worse than a 1-0 defeat. Spurs will get a few players back into the side next week and they will be much better. Not out of the tie by any means.

Ajax far from good (apart from that period in the 1st half) but kicking themselves not having won 0-2. I thought Spurs did well after the first 30 minutes, but only got 1 shot on target. Weird contest.

How good did Onana look. Hopefully we snap him up as the long term successor to Lloris. Great dealing with the high ball and with his feet. If he is a decent shot stopper he is the complete package

Hasnt been a problem for english teams in the past. Or maybe it has but no one has complained. It's the old it's all good when you're winning, everythings cool. But when you lose, or dont achieve the result wanted it's "its not fair".

Kinda like when geelong complained about playing richmond at the MCG in the 2017 QF. Yet in 2016, Geelong played hawthorn in the QF at the same venue and nary a complaint was spoken.

Has it happened before where another country's association called off games the weekend prior to a semi final?

The English media made it sound like the Dutch FA did all this for Ajax, while it was clear Ajax couldn't play on Sunday due to UEFA rules not allowing them to play on Sunday, and they couldn't play on Friday or Saturday due to King's day in the Netherlands.

So there was never fixtures scheduled for last weekend?

As a spurs fan watching Ajax dominate us it reminds me of being a kid and walking into Toys R Us with your mum. Thinking I’ll take one of those (Onana), one of those (VDB), one of those (Ziyech), one of those (the LB) and one of those (Neres). Not even greedy asking for a DeJong or DeLigt
But then you realise your mum is tight for cash as you just bought a new house. So you end up leaving with Varela as it is cheap and on the discount counter

I was thinking more of mum saying you’ve got enough old toys use the ones you thought were s**t but aren’t like Sissoko
