UEFA EURO 2020 (Italy Champions)

Best two takers usually go first and last. Apart from 2006 when Italy's clutchest player with nerves of steele Grosso took the winning penalty.

I mean you can believe what you want. He made the squad and they missed his quality too. Perfect if Southgate persists with a back five too. Gives him the freedom of the wing and has three CB's to cover his forward runs. Shame he missed out, he would have helped England hugely.
Unlikely given Walker had a very good tournament.

He deployed wingbacks to bypass the Italian midfield and catch the Italy defence of guard out wide which resulted in the first goal and defended solidly after that. Italy never looked liked scoring despite the possession and only got a goal through kick off a set piece.
I dont know if they never looked like scoring. Chiesa was giving them fits. You cant give up the ball so much in games and not expect teams to at some point punish you.

Did I misremember the bit where Southgate came out and said that Trippier, Walker and James were better than TAA, then he fought his way back to be good enough as a sub, then he got injured? He wouldn’t have started.

Chiesa looked like he could break the game open through individual brilliance but he was hardly fed any good balls. I think England did well not trying to match Italy’s possession game and forcing Italy to make non threatening back passes most of the time.

Not every game lmao
I'm saying positionally if he did play. I'm not saying he would have started, might not even have played as Southgate I dont think is a fan but he's easily the best dead ball specialist and crosser of a football that England have. Sooner Southgate figures it out, the better off England will be.

So eng selected 4 right backs for the squad. Smart moves lads

Lol at anyone who thinks he was genuinely included on merit and not the weight of public opinion.

I think the problem is he would not have fit into the system Southgate played tonight. It’s well known that TAA is weaker defensively and it seems that’s a fundamental attribute to this system.

He may be a better wing back, but not right for this team unless we become more attacking.

Thats an intersting point. No doubt that was (hoodoos) played on in England by the people and media. So overcoming that was emotional for those concerned. Then the adrenaline started to wear off.

But theres nothing to say that you have to overcome one hoodoo then the next before achieving the ultimate. Look at Richmond in 2017, bugger all finals experience, then romped it in against the odds. Then 2019 lifted the cup again, and then of course in 2020 in the hardest flag to win. it can be done

Tigers made the 8, 13-16.

Missed the top4 by a bees dick too

England have the league winning right back of england, Spain and Europe.

Taa fan boys carry on like it's a travesty

I like TAA as a player and as an EPL fantasy option. He’s obviously intelligent and has a great future. He needs to work on his defending to become a true great outside Liverpool.
