Really should have taken more kids over and given more experience, way too many older guys in the squad who hindered development.

Going forward, really need to drop donkeys like Duke etc for the WC qualifiers and international friendlies, and use the time between now and the next WC to give the kids time. There is talent coming through, and if Arnold won't back them then sack him. Don't want us at the next WC with Duke at 34 or 35 leading the line because we have stifled development.

Well he held them all back apparently for the u23 AFC in April.

We need to finish top 3 to qualify for Paris - our group is ok (Qatar, Jordan and Indonesia) but the bad news is we will most likely have to play one of South Korea or Japan in the QF to advance.

Even 4th should do as we would play Guinea in a play-off.

But if we don’t get through even bigger disaster given some of those guys probably would have given more during the tournament, or at least helped their development.

South Korea have six players playing in top five European leagues. We have zero, with a fair chunk battling in mid-table Scottish clubs and League One. The fact we were close is a huge surprise in itself given the obvious gulf in talent. Korea haven't been convincing because they have an even worse manager than Arnold, Kilnsmann is a hack. Always has been.

Sure, the tactics were completely wrong, but you can't expect to achieve much given the lack of world class talent in the squad. A decent manager would've seen Korea win it in normal time.

That was a disaster this morning from Australia. So close to progressing and get into a situation where 5 defenders are surrounding Son but he manages to beat everyone and when there is still barely any danger, he gets fouled. Horrific defending.

I mean for most of the match we had them covered, no danger, then some terrible subs and tactical switch and it goes to total s**t. And even then it was bad mistakes that cost us in the end rather then South Korea being good.

Their best player is Son, the rest drop well off after that.

This was a standard Arnie disasterclass, and to be honest I am not looking forward to how he probably makes our next WC qualifying path difficult from another bout of either bad selections, bad subs or bad tactics.

He did great at the WC, but that was more broken clock rather than anything else.

Jesus. That was an all-time collapse with the late equaliser, missed sitters, red card and losing goal.

That felt like the Socceroos I grew up watching trying to make the World Cup.

Lol according to old mate on here we are just as talented as Korea hey Zidane98

Only a full nuffy would think on talent we even come close to Korea on the pitch.

I agree that Arnold should be given the ole heave ho; but just out of curiosity, who do people think is the best candidate to take the national team forward with the solid core of youth we have coming through?

Probably no one. There's no money so it'll be another Aussie. Be nice if Kewell or someone had shadowed Ange for a year or 2 and was ready to take over.

Arnold is contracted until end of the ‘26 WC. He’s not going anywhere.
