Katich given out wrongly yesterday, Hussey given out wrongly today.

He has won the ICC umpire of the year the last two years, he is the best they have to offer apart from maybe Taufell who we can't have because of dodgy Indian umpires.

If good umpiring was about making good decisions then you might have a point. However Billy Bowden's unique and dramatic umpiring style has endeared him to millions of fans throughout the cricketing world and elevated him to superstar status.

No mate, he's an inspiration. Did you know the reason he holds his finger bent when giving people out is that he suffers from arthritis and is physically incapable of holding it straight? To even be able to put his hat on each morning is a task that would break a lesser man.

I'm not sure why he makes all the other unorthodox, yet entertaining, moves he does but no doubt each signature move has an equally inspiring story behind it.

The review system does give the umpire's a bit of leway, but it seems like they all play on the safe side and say 'not out' if they think it could be out. Then the captain can review it if he likes.

A good example was Hilfy's first ball in the second innings. Without the Review system, the umpire would have given that out 9 times out fo 10.

Haydos mentioned something in his book about Dar donating a fair chunk of his wages to the family of a driver in the Sri Lankan convoy that was killed in Pakistan during the terrorist ambush.

I think he's really improved as an umpire, but obviously a very good man as well.

Mate, that finger story is a fabrication, and give me a break about being able to put his hat on.

He can straighten his finger, believe me. Fact is, Billy is a knob, and none of the other umpires want to work with him. I know three guys who have umpired with Billy and have had to share accommodation, dine with him, etc, and they've seen that finger straighten. He has just made the decision to be unorthodox, and the fact it achieves nothing but piss people off doesn't seem to matter to Billy.

If he's really so riddled with debilitating arthritis, why persist with all the exaggerated movements such as the ridiculous way he calls for drinks? Billy's a w***er.

dar is clearly the best umpire in world cricket at the moment. he probably was one of the worst not long back. the 2 worst right now and by some way are. bowden and rauf. de silva just shouldn't be umpiring, i wouldn't even classify him as an elite umpire
