Did we get stupid over the off-season??? Why is our forward line working so poorly and why is it so difficult kicking goals??

Lloydy is getting double teamed, triple teamed every time he goes for the ball.......surely this means someone else is on their own - yet we insist on kicking to packs where we are outnumbered.

We are definately missing Scotty Lucas as he will provide another option and make opposition teams think a little harder about how to stop Lloyd. But I think the coaching staff need to come up with some new ideas. IMO, Sheedy is coaching very, very poorly this season so far, in particular with the Collingwood fiasco and Brisbane loss.

Any thoughts?

I agree.

I didn't get to see yesterdays game but from what you just said, it sounds like we were playing the same game we played against Collingwood last week. That is, kick it to Lloyd and hope he marks it.

I can't believe that Sheedy would have them playing that style of game in the wet the way they did on Anzac Day. So is it Sheedy? Or it the players?

Also, we don't seem as tough this year either. Losing Hardwick and Solomon has definately hurt us, but MJ and JJ seem to be the only other guys prepared to throw their weight around a little.

Have we become "soft" again?

I believe so.

As for the coaching staff coming up with new ideas, i agree. We were so far ahead of the rest in 2000 in terms of the game we were playing at the time. Now, they've all caught up, and we need something new.

It is only Round 6 though. Sure, it doesn't look promising, but i'm slowly accepting that we're not going to be a real team again until Round 13 or so. We'll just have to get by until then, and make sure we're in a position to at least have a crack at the top 4 when we do (hopefully) get a team together again.

Scotty Lucas, it's time for you to take charge and show us what you are made of.

Unfortunately we are very much dependant on Lloyd being in the forward line...hope they think of something very quickly!!

g, can we afford to send him forward?

I don't think we can, he is really starting to make a name for himself down back and IMO has filled Solomons shoes very well. Thats not to say that we dont miss Solomon - particularly his toughness, but without Danny in the backline, the forward line would probably be the least of out problems.

I agree with leaving Danny where he is. I remember hearing a coach (can't remeber who) say never try to fix a negative with a positive, ie. if a player is winning his position, don't move him.

Dave: No. We probably don't have anybody...... My point is though, would we get more value out of him by throwing him forward at the moment? Let's say we lose a few goals without him down back, he'd still be likely to kick a few at the other end and give us a decent (and reliable) target down there as well.

I'd love to see him in the forward line now that he's got a few games under his belt. If we can deliver it to him well, he'll mark it.

If we can't kick a goal this week, then he'll have to go forward imo. (I'd certainly feel more comfortable with Jacobs on our forward line than Rioli.......at the moment.....)
