XG 3.6 actual goals 1.

PSV only had 4 shots I believe. The same as Xhaka. 5 each to Saka and Jesus, Nketiah with 6. It was quite the dominant display without the goals to show for it on the scoreboard.

On one hand, we were wasteful, and on the other, we continued to create. Big test away this weekend to Southampton where it’s been difficult going on recent visits there. Hoping to get that clinical edge back in front of goal.

Yes that was an interesting quote from Arteta. I saw the clip of him saying it and it doesn’t quite reflect the same way when seeing the quote in writing.

I got the sense he was talking more so about mentality, wanting his players to be banging on his door every few days to play and win the game, the mentality it takes to be a winner etc.

I think he’d be well aware of the dangers of running young players into the ground. He was at the club and saw it first hand with Wilshere and then Bellerin. I doubt he’d actually do the 70 matches a season thing to Saka or someone else, more so it’s referring to the desire to be there willing to play. That was my take away at least.

I agree. It felt like he'd aimed his comment to the players as much as anyone. I think he wants to forestall this sense of fatigue and being overworked creeping into the players mindset. If I was a player in a team on the kind of run Arsenal are on, I'd be loathe to give up my position in the starting 11.

Some good results for us over the weekend now we must continue to take advantage of it!

I expected us to take a step or 2 forward this season but to have started like this has been bloody great. Now to kick on let's give man City a fight for top and be back in the Champions league where we belong next year!

TV showing a David Seaman doco . I wouldn't have recognised him.

Should’ve been out of sight that first half hour. Will need to see the game in full, however the initial reaction is that’s 2 points dropped. At least Arsenal didn’t lose it, first draw since January I believe.

We were playing like world beaters at the start tho not scoring. Odegaard somehow completely was off target for what looked like a fairly easy shot.

We seemed to struggle against their bigger defenders. Needed a Giroud type

- No real complaints about the result, even though Southampton didn't overly create much, they were the much better team in the second half and warranted their point.

- Arsenal have been starting games so well, and just don't have the goals to show for it. That's 4 matches in a row now where I think we've only scored the 1 goal. Not too long ago, chance creation was the major issue in the side. However know we are creating them in abundance at times and just not converting. That stuff comes back to bite you. Got away with it at Leeds and Bodo, it came back to haunt this morning.

- Jesus has seemed off the boil since that knock at Liverpool. Still has that zip and drive about him, twists this way and then that and remains a handful for defenders. Just that final ball and his positioning at times is off. He should've scored when through on goal. And that lovely interplay with Odegaard where he scooped it over the top back to Jesus right in front, that was a poor miss. Straight at the keeper when a metre either side and its in. Play Nketiah for the 90 at PSV please, he needs a breather I reckon.

- Not just him, but can see the effects of tiredness creeping into the squad now. No Europe was a bonus last season, now though with the heavy October schedule that many teams have, its catching up. Saliba unusually sloppy at times, Partey's passing a bit off the boil that second half. Arteta needs to lean into his squad more, should be full rotation as much as possible on Thursday night.

- No ESR as yet also poses a problem, meaning Jesus/Nketiah have had to share the minutes on the left during the EL. I also think Tierney should be back in for the league matches now. The Tomiyasu thing at LB worked a treat against Salah, however not sure it needs to be an ongoing thing. Tierney looked very good when he came on, whereas I thought Vieria and Nketiah didn't add the spark that was necessary off the bench.

- Its not a disaster by any means, in time I think this will be looked as a good point earned. Arsenal suffered way too many defeats last season, ultimately that was the difference in the top 4 race. We just couldn't hold out for more draws and bank valuable points. In that regard, this really isn't that bad of an outcome.

- Lastly, the ref. Quite a poor game from him. Not saying its cost the match or anything outlandish, Arsenal should've been well clear at half time and can only blame themselves for that. AND the refereeing was of a low standard. That's a penalty to Jesus I felt, and the booking for Saka was terrible (just because its not a foul doesn't mean its simulation).

- Still top of the league. Am enjoying it for as long it may last :D

I thought the referee was poor but I don’t really want to get into that if I’m being honest, it’s wasted energy.
Again a poor 2nd half not creating enough chances or dangerous situations, wasn’t as bad as the Leeds game but ultimately if you don’t score a 2nd goal eventually it’s going to cost you. Fact of the matter is we haven’t deserved 6/6 last 2 games…
The fatigue excuse i also think is a little overrated, we’re still pretty early in the season and it isn’t like we’re in the CL only being able to rotate 1 or 2 players midweek, we’re EL and have been rotating 5 or 6.,
Jesus and Odegaard are obviously quality players, love them both but both need to develop a little bit more conviction in shooting, jesus is brilliant at many things but his finishing has been ordinary lately.
Pretty disappointing with our response to the equaliser tbh, still had 25 mins to score against a poor Southampton team and it simply didn’t give us the kick up the arse I hoped it would.
Anyways all in all 28/33 Is still awesome, but it just reconfirmed to me why I was still more along the lines of thinking how far are we ahead of 5th as opposed to how can we beat Man City to the title.
Onto the next one at home to Forest.
