I just don't understand why the **** we were playing all of our starters in the Europa.

Saliba gets injured and we are forced to play the most crucial part of the season with Holding at CB.

Complete madness playing Saka/Saliba/Ramsdale (he played in the last tie) You are asking for or inviting trouble.
Still think we can go to the cheats and get a result. Arsenal are that sort of club. All looks done and they can pull a result which shocks us all.

I'm hoping we hang on and win it this season
23/24 will be way harder
Unless we greatly improve our team
Need upgrades to continue to compete
So let's just get it done this season

I’m torn between the two scenarios this morning.

Firstly, the league table. It says we’re 4 points ahead having played one extra match. So the fact is this - it’s still in Arsenal’s hands. Win every remaining match and we’re champions.

However, it’s not that simple unfortunately with 4 dropped points the last 7 days.

The same scenario presents itself for City. If they win every match remaining, they’re champions. Just like they’ve done at this stage of the season numerous times.

Goes without saying the match next week is monumental. The biggest league match Arsenal have faced in I don’t know how long.

On the first point, yes its somewhat comforting that we still have this lead and it’s technically in our hands. However there’s a very significant intangible - momentum. The momentum has clearly swung in City’s favour with their ruthlessness. Arsenal are stuttering at the wrong point.

It’s nerves, inexperience etc that is the intangible. Youngest team in the league vs City whose average age of their squad is probably 4 years old. Which is no coincidence that’s why they’ve won 4-5 league titles.

We are doubting ourselves during pivotal moments of the match. These matches have been there for the taking being 2-0 up. Yet we play with our food instead of killing it off. City go in for the kill. Get the 3rd or 4th goal and that’s that.

We haven’t been, which has been inexplicable. I’m certain it’s not the coaching, Arteta isn’t telling them to stop playing and just start running the clock down etc. It’s in game management on the pitch, last night was very sloppy and they literally didn’t threaten at all in that opening half hour. The crowd was silent. We brought them back into it and they roared back to life.

I’m not going to slag players off. Saka is already one of my favourites. One of the reasons we are where we are. That was a big miss at a crucial moment. And he probably had his worst game this season, so did Partey. He was monstered last night by Rice. Hopefully a nice audition for next season.

Tierney I thought was very good. I’m not going to lay into Rob Holding. Ultimate professional who represents the club so well. This bloke went toe to toe with peak Costa in a Cup final in 2017 and came out victorious. They’re excellent squad members however therein lies the difference.

Who they replaced makes all the difference. Zinchenko is essentially a third midfielder. Massive loss to our system without him. Partey’s poor game would’ve been somewhat negated by having Zinchenko in. And then of course Saliba. He’s in the discussion for the best centre half in the league. Losing two of your back four is massive as they’re both line breaking in their passing, rather than the lateral slow build up we had last night.

Therein is the difference between a top 4 caliber squad and a league title winning squad. You need luck to win it especially against City and their wealth. Unfortunately these injuries have come at a very bad time for Arsenal and I’m hopeful at least these two can feature away to City next week.

I’ll also add last night was a prime opportunity for ESR. He’s fallen completely out of favour and I would’ve brought him on in midfield.

City also have their CL which has been missing from their trophy cabinet. League matches wedged between a looming tie against Real Madrid can hopefully work in Arsenal’s favour.

Regardless, there’s still plenty of twists and turns to go and it’s obvious we need to come out and play a strong 90 minutes against Southampton this Saturday morning. A big win will be just the tonic needed.

Disappointing but still a hell of a season however it finishes. Exceeded the expectations of most of us and ended up playing awesome football for most of the season.

Still in it but it does feel like City will run us down easily.

Pretty much my thoughts. A win on Saturday will galvanise the team and give us a little bit of confidence to at least get a draw against City. I think it's normal for a young side to let a few things go at this stage of the season when the pressure is now on them and they are edging closer to the title becoming a reality.

City is not unbeatable, however. They still conceded to a hapless Leicester on the weekend even if the game was done, which shows that they are susceptible. I can't wait to be honest.

To be 2-0 up in 10 mins and then draw is bitterly disappointing. It was like the Arsenal of old showed up and everything we've done this season was forgotten about.

Our goals were beautiful, the build up to the first was delicious.

But what the **** was Gabriel doing for the pen? His decision making is so poor at times. He always makes these rash challenges and they're often costly. I think things like this will stop him from ever becoming a top tier CB.

So the wheels are off ! Thrown down the toilet , a waste , city with thump us to end it

I agree, City looked very vulnerable even after conceding that goal, Leicester really should have scored a second to make it interesting. I think we are just going to have to go for it at The Etihad and try and take all 3. Of course we would take a draw but in that scenario are we really going to win out? The pressure each week would be insane with a tricky run home. I reckon we can definetly score against City, just gonna need a fair bit of luck at the other end.

City have always been vulnerable at the back - they are just very good at keeping the ball so it makes it hard to win it and counter.

I agree though a draw will suffice but it then puts more pressure on us to win every game whilst a win gives us another chance to stumble and less pressure.
