I get that but whenever a goal is scored against us he's at the centre of it. That's if he's not getting sent off or picking up a dumb booking.
Good player but not top quality and will go the way of Iwobi and Willock. EPL standard but not good enough for a team contending the title.

Quality set-piece goal to start things off and that was followed up by a dominant second half.

Again, we only conceded to a class goal. Teams are scoring worldies against us.

Love that Madueke (especially) and Martinelli scored. That cross from Calafiori was so good.

What exactly are you referring to?

Not so much this season (because he has barely played), but last season he was our biggest liability in the back 4.
I get it was his 1st season and he is still a kid, but he's prone to being reckless and switching off.

IMO Arteta knows it, that's why we signed Hincapie (who probably would of played tonight if he didn't play against Tottenham and we were carefully managing his minutes since returning from injury). MLS is probably now our 3rd choice LB.

Let's be honest, if everyone is fit I don't think he's worthy of a spot in the matchday squad. Raya, Timber, Gabriel, Saliba, Callafiori, Zubi, Rice, Eze, Odegaard, Saka, Gyokores. Bench is Kepa, Mosquera, White, Hincapie, Trossard, Martinelli, Nwaneri, Merino, Havertz. Would make the larger CL squads, but not the EPL.

I see alot of Maitland-Niles vibes about him. A natural DM playing out of position in a back 4. Mind you he has a far superior attitude than A M-N ever had.

One thing I would like to see is him playing some games as a DM. Do it in the cup comps and let's see what he has to offer

I find the hatred of us strange.

It’s not a recent thing. Arsenal have always been hated for various reasons.

1. Historically, they’ve been the most successful club in London for the last 100+ years, becoming the de facto representation of the “elite” over the “working-class” areas of England.
2. They were the first English club to integrate a large number of Black English players into the first team, upsetting the white purists.
3. Wenger was the first widely successful “foreign” manager, and being French, educated, and well-spoken made him the complete opposite of traditional “British” working-class football culture.
4. Wenger also brought in many foreign players, supposedly “destroying the fabric of English society” by not giving good, honest English youngsters a chance in football.
5. Then there was Wenger’s “noncey” football seen as not tough, manly, or “proper” enough.

And so on, and so on.

Domestically, Arsenal cop hate from other London club supporters due to proximity and success. Remember: until Chelsea became oil-money-doped in 2003–04, every other London-based club combined had a total of just three English league titles, and none since 1961. Arsenal have 13 league titles, winning one in virtually every decade (’30s, ’40s, ’50s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s).

Domestically, Arsenal also get hate from supporters of the other big clubs (Liverpool and Manchester United) because Arsenal have always challenged their success. Arsenal battled the great, all-conquering Liverpool sides in the ’70s and ’80s.

People forget that before the Premier League era, Arsenal were second only to Liverpool in league titles (18 to 10). Liverpool won 11 of those titles between 1972 and 1990. Guess who won the titles in 1971 and 1991? Arsenal.

Again, when Man United were dominating the league in the ’90s and ’00s, it was Arsenal providing the only sustained challenge. United won 13 titles from 1993 to 2013; before that, their last title was in 1967. At that point, United had fewer league titles than Arsenal (7 to Arsenal’s 10).

All of the above are also reasons why many media pundits and ex-players hate on Arsenal. They were either not good enough to play for Arsenal, played for teams that were consistently crushed by Arsenal, or were directly involved in one of the rivalries with Arsenal.

The other hate comes from fans of clubs with bloated recent success due to either direct financial manipulation (Man City, Chelsea, PSG) or traditional financial dominance within their league structures (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern), while Arsenal are comparatively struggling.

Social media has also multiplied toxic trolling culture a million-fold—for virtually everything, not just football.

Don’t think it’s been mentioned yet so just a couple of quick additions. Merino, for someone who is “4th choice” centre forward, sure is stringing together some excellent matches in that position.

He has grown in stature into the role heavily involved in build up as well as being in the box at the right time. Gotta manage his workload though, he’s playing a lot of football for club and country just like Rice, Zubimendi, Timber and so on.

Arsenal are 5 from 5 in the CL this season, only team to do so with Inter also losing this morning. Just the 1 goal conceded so far (in this match, and even that was a perfect and brilliantly executed counter attack).

Last 2 matches are Brugge and Kairat at home so hopefully by then top 4 will be sealed and can look to rotate for those fixtures.

Martinelli is 4 goals in his last 4 CL matches. He and Madueke will be right back in the fold with Trossard’s injury. Perhaps play that music in his headphones this weekend before he runs out against Chelsea haha
