Means Jenko will get a chance.

Your time to shine, Corporal :rainbow:

You know, at first I thought Ozil was a little flat to be here when seeing him out on the pitch, but after seeing him a few times I've realised he's just not a hugely outwardly emotive person - he's an introvert for certain, but more than that he just has a face which doesn't seem capable of broad ranges of expression. That half forced looking smile after scoring his goal really was him being happy.

Oi, just because he's ugly.

So your saying he is the football version of Kristen Stewart?

Flamini was 24, Hleb was 27, RvP was 25 and Clichy was 23. Can't really call them youngsters.

Cesc was the only real young one of that group, 21.

Regardless, they weren't the seasoned pros that we have now. I feel like we have many leaders now, compared to what we had back then - Gallas..pfft.

In 07-08 the players who started the majority of the season were

Almunia
Sagna - Toure - Gallas - Clichy
Hleb - Fabregas - Flamini - Eboue
Adebayor - Walcott with Bendtner having the most appearances as a sub

Kolo was an invincible, Eboue, Hleb, Adebayor, and Gallas were fixtures in their respective national teams, but the rest had only sporadic appearances in friendlies and early qualifiers at best. Beyond them, only Gilberto Silva, RvP, Eduardo, Rossicky and Jens Lehman had extensive national team experience, and they scarcely played.

Even worse is when you look at the bench players such as Bendtner, Senderos, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Walcott who were all very young at that stage, so after a couple of injuries it was bring on the youngsters.

Now we have players like Podolski/Arteta/Wilshere/Flamini/Monreal to rotate on and off the bench. The difference in quality and experience is huge.

Fair point. Hearing the name Denilson makes me shudder. Awful.

Gallas was actually an excellent centre half for us for a while, completely lost his shit at that Birmingham game and never really recovered.

Agree RE Gallas - he he wasn't a f*** he was brilliant. But his reaction to the Birmingham game was disgusting. Especially as so much of our squad were young, super talented players and needed guidance at the time.

That game and the CL Final v Barca are my two most painful memories as an Arsenal supporter (since around 1999-2000).

Even now I look back at that season and get angry. We played by far the best football of any team that year, the MF was just awesome. Then that c*** shatters Eduardo's leg and our whole team falls to pieces. Eduardo was seriously playing some magic football at the time as well. That 1-4 win away vs Everton, he scored two absolute peaches. The whole season was an injustice .

Will never forget the commentators description of Eduardo's injury, being too graphic to even show a replay. Was a crazy game, emotionally draining for all involved. Wenger's post game interview was intense as well. One of the main images that remain with me from Ramsey's injury vs Stoke was the player's reactions straight away. Sol Campbell losing his shit in disgust, and was it Bendtner that pushed shawcross away from approaching Ramsey to say sorry?

Obviously hasn't learned from the Chamakh incident last season. Pretty stupid of Wilshere to do that in public, knowing full well Wenger's view on these things.

It was only one cigarette. As long as it isn't something he does whilst sober, it's fine.

It's actually quite common for people to have a durry or two while out drinking.

If he has a sober addiction to it, then we should start worrying.

I think you're somewhat missing the point mate, its not necessarily about the volume of consumption, or the state he's in whilst choosing to smoke. Its the fact that he's doing it in the first place. Wenger is a massive advocate of all things sports science, nutrition and fitness etc.

He has a very low tolerance for his players doing things like this, especially in the public eye (I'm not suggesting it would be okay if no one else saw it, it just makes it more idiotic that Wilshere chose to smoke in a public bar).

It doesn't matter. He is an athlete playing at the highest level.

And by you saying it's okay to do it while he's DRINKING is even worse.
