Very unusual to hear him so forthright, which is encouraging. Let's hope we sign some players. Never been a massive fan of nani, but he would likely get a sustained run in our first XI, would come with a winning mentality and has a lot of c*** about him (something we sorely lack). Goes without saying, is better than pussyvi, er- gervinho

But the line at the bottom of the article is probably the most important, we must must must move on the likes of chamakh etc to create capacity in our wage bill.

Also - did anyone catch 'bozza's hat trick' the other night on foxtel? Was an NLD theme this time, showed 3 games from the last 3 seasons. Fascinating viewing.

Chamack shouldn't be to hard to get rid of on a short term deal and to be fair to Chamack he could easily score 10+ goals a season at a club like West Ham as long as he starts every week and is motivated. Which has been his biggest problem since half way through his first year here. The other player I can see leaving is Arshavin who would be perfect for Reading and could keep them up on his own as long as he tries, talent wise he was the one of the most talented in the world but he is to much of risk in a system like ours where you are required to run both ways. And hopefully an Italian team takes Djourou of our hands.

The rest will have to wait til the end of the season to remove but getting rid of those three will be a good start.

set pieces will be dangerous for us, a guy like ba can really cause us some issues in the air. but overall we should be too strong for them, they've got a number of injuries whilst we've got some players coming back now (touch wood). kos should start, rosicky can come on in 2nd half if santi needs a break. giroud is fit too, he should start up front IMO and perhaps slot theo back to the right flank.

3-1 arsenal.

Didn't see the match but have seen the results.

Theo put in 3 as a striker?

Played up front on his own until Giroud came on late. Closer match than the scoreline suggests

Wow didn't expect the game to end up with that scoreline after a very boring and slow first half. Negatives from the game was our pressing and slowness in moving the ball in the first half, didn't have the same problems in the second where the game opened up. The other negative was our defence which was all over the place minus Vermaelen who has played well the last month. Though like a lot of the goals we have conceded this year they were mistakes from our defence/midfielders rather then the opposition scoring good goals which can be fixed. On the first goal we conceded I dont know what Wilshere was thinking though unlike the Nasri incident he wasn't hiding from the ball and I think the reason he ducked was he knew that it would have been an easy catch for Wojiech but he miss judged where he was and really should have played the percentages and let the ball hit him then cleared even if it meant giving up possession. The second goal we conceded was absolutely comical but im not sure what was the most comical thing about it. Was it Sagna getting skinned by O'berton or Koscienly not trying to clear it or Gibbs not marking the far post. Stupid goal to give up but with practice and maybe match sharpness(kosicenly) we can stop it from occurring again. The third goal was just as comical as the second and both Sagna and Gibbs were at fault again. Sagna for not shutting down the crosser and Gibbs for thinking no one was behind and letting Ba all by himself to finish with ease.

Offensively we were great in the second half but poor in the first. I thought that Walcott was average in the first half despite finishing brilliantly when he got a clear opportunity but other then that goal he wasted a couple of chances on the counter. The second half he started slow but was everywhere from 65 minute mark and his other two finishes were just as good as his first. His second goal his showed poise and used the time he had to pick out the top corner where in the past he would have rushed and most likely missed and his third goal showed an ability to get around the defenders without using his speed and stayed with it not looking for a penalty when he could have easily stayed down and won the penalty and then his finished showed poise and very calmly lifted it over Krul for what was his best goal he has scored for the club.

I thought Ox was good at times and bad at times, he needs to realise that unless his on the counter he shouldnt cross because Walcott isnt going to rise over the top of a defender and head it home as that's what Giroud's for. And he needs to learn how to link up with Sagna as a lot of the time they are not on the same wave length and do not have the understanding that Sagna has with Walcott though this should come with playing time together. The good from his game was he has found his mojo again and is hungry like he was last season, he is now starting to take on the opposition more and looking to shoot as much as possible.

Podolski played very good I thought and used his strength to win the ball in dangerous area's. His assist for Walcott first was nice and was the first time we have seen him get an assist that didnt involve him crossing the ball. He tracked back a lot which was good especially as Gibbs wasnt having a good game, he also played some very good through ball most notably his one to gibbs for Walcott's second goal though he should have been the one who scored.

Cazorla was hopeless, he wasnt good in attack and his defending is just not there. He tracks back and applies pressure but a lot of the time he is guarding the wrong area/player and leaves the more dangerous player free. As I said he wasnt his normal self in attack and should have been substituted of earlier but Cazorla's performances have been inconsistent and hopefully we see the good Cazorla in our next game.

Wilshere minus being at fault for their first goal was great and provided lots drive through the middle most notably for Podolski goal. He is the heart beat of team and is the most important player to the side imo. In saying this the midfield showed again today that they dont work well together, Wilshere likes to pressure the baller with the ball which to be fair served him well on quite a few occasions today and what he does is find if the other players also pressure the ball carrier but at the moment we have Arteta guarding space rather then pressuring and Cazorla pressuring but not pressuring the right player and the three dont work together. The midfield three of Arteta, Diaby and Cazorla worked well as they complemented each other. Diaby was able to provide height and strength to the midfield and as a result meant that neither Arteta or Cazorla would get bullied by the opposition. But at the moment we are to small and weak and are getting bullied and the best way to fix this while keeping all three playing would be to push Jack into Cazorla's spot, Cazorla into Ox's position and then buy an box to box midfielder who is similar to Diaby so someone like Diame or Moussa Sissoko who would both cost very little due to contract situations. This would give us strength and height and we would still be able to play our tiki taka football we like to play. Another option is to play Coquelin in Wilshere's position but I like him coming of the bench though I think he is due a start in the coming weeks. Or we could rely on Diaby who is a sad situation.

Giroud was brilliant when he came on and provided a real presence up front. He also settled the team down when he came on and we looked less nervous, he also helped us retain the ball better as Wojeich had someone to kick to on goal kicks. Now has 11 goals and nine assist not bad for his first season here.

The last thing I wanted to mention was I thought Vermaelen was very good today and was their when we needed him as in winning headers and getting last ditch clearances.

Hope this all made sense had about two hours sleep before waking up to watch the game and was going to go back to sleep but after that game I was never going to be able to fall back asleep.

Good summary Tom.

7-3 victory looks like a thumping on paper, but we only pulled away in the last 15 minutes or so. Very pleased with our finishing, theo in particular has come on in leaps and bound with his finishing which has always been one of his major problems. Ox too slotted home a nice goal. Terrific having someone like giroud to come on late in a close game and nail 2 quick fire goals for us.

We started very flat and ba caused us problems throughout. Some pretty average defending at times, wenger won't be happy with how we meekly allowed them to equalize 3 times throughout the game. But thankfully this time we pressed on and smashed some goals late on. 8 goals in total in the 2nd half, crazy stuff. Very happy with the 3 points and another boost to our already healthy goal difference, but we really need to iron out these defensive flaws.

Put pen to paper theo!

Random thoughts....

Was furious with Sagna for the first goal.

No idea why we play so much down the right when Podolski and Gibbs combine so well. In the first half I was getting really frustrated with this. Podolski was really good I thought. Kept making smart decisions.

Walcott's cross for Giroud was as good as I've seen by an Arsenal player I reckon.

Do I need to paste a link to the Freddie and Pires days?

Theo putting in 3 against a horrible Newcastle (who will probably sack Pardew at year's end) is all well and good but he needs to be playing well in big matches and not just bullying easy beats.

Arsene will feel vindicated for the switch & so will Theo. I have a feeling this won't turn out well for us come Transfer window time if he stays as we will undoubtedly overlook a forward that we need.

On his body language when he collected the match ball, he's leaving.

Look at the passion show by Wilshere when Podolski scores. He should be captain of this club.

Great cross from Feeooo and equally as good from Giroud for the finish. First Walcott goal reminded me of Henry. Opening the body, side footing it to the far post.

Agreed re: jack. He bleeds arsenal. Love that bloke

The cross from Theo from giroud was sublime, in fact many of giroud's headed goals this season have come from the foot of Walcott.

Santoz - what did you read into Theo's body language at the end? I must have missed this (I went back to sleep!)

He was pretty happy when Theo scored his third too :p

Giroud was so close to a hattrick off the bench as well. Even started celebrating thinking it went in :D

Seriously?

For all his faults, Theo tends to lift for the big games.

Personally dont want Wilshere captain of the club for at least the next three years maybe more. As i feel we will lose his passion as he will play the peace making role for the team as captain. Since Vermaelen became captain you no longer see him get in the face of the opposition and that's what I love about Jack and im sure you do too. Who knows Jack may continue to be a hot head if he were to be captain but im sure he will get a a lot more media attention if he were to be sent off one day for pushing an opposition player and that doesnt look good if your captain. In saying this if Jack were to become captain and still have his passion and hot head attitude then I would be all for it.
