One of the best songs around in the Premier League, Giroud’s name is sung to the tune of the Beatles ‘Hey Jude’ and the Frenchman said

"I am really proud to have my own song, it makes me have goosebumps, it’s really nice when you are on the pitch"

We can be in a position to adequatey cover for these losses. Just like Manchester City and Chelsea. Just like Manchester United's past winning teams could do.

I've said we need three players. The same three we needed at the start of the season.

I couldnt care less if it "washes" with you or not.

We don't need another CDM, we have two who can be/are first choice when for the most part we play a formation that only needs one, plus we have a squad player in Frimpong. We only need another striker and a youngish or back up centre half, no need to spend on something fancy unless Vermaelen leaves in January.

Perhaps, but he's still our squad depth for the position, and until we put away more than half a league season we're going to struggle to attract players who should be playing first team in a top 6 club to fight for a position on the bench every week like Chelsea, Madrid and Barcelona do. Likewise, a player good enough to knock one of those starters to the bench and the other to the reserves as soon as he walks through the door is going to have offers from more than just us for his services.

I thought Giroud's game was absolutely immense. His controls the ball so well and so often and is able to set up the midfielders with his little touches. Always seems to get involved in these 1-2s on the edge of the box. Unfortunately his finishing still needs some work.
Can't really see any of our other strikers (walcott, pods and Bendtner) offering the same structure as what he does.
Heard he may have picked something up, so hopefully he's fit for midweek.
Tell you what, I've been hanging out to see Podolski play center forward now that Ozil has come in and when he's fit and ready, it'll be good to give Giroud a breather 'cause he, Giroud, has been playing his heart out and I'd hate to see him injure himself due to fatigue.

Podolski and or Walcott are badly needed back in the squad to provide some coverage for Giroud. Whilst Ozil is clearly our best player, Giroud is our most important right now. Cannot afford an injury to him.

It would be disastrous if Giroud were to be out. With Ozil in the side, just by being on the pitch, others in our side suddenly find themselves not the targets of opposition attention and that is great news for us.

Frimpong wont make the grade and Arteta is the wrong side of 30.

Wenger bid for Lars Bender and Gustavo during the offseason and that was with Flamini training with the team. You could say that Flamini has made a new signing less of a priority but i still think its an area we should be looking at adding to not just sitting on our hands.

And i've never said we need to spend stupid money to bring in these players. A quality striker is needed no doubt that we'll need to spend large on, but a quality depth centreback ala - someone around the 29-30 year old mark and another CDM would see our squad become very strong indeed

For example off the top of my head

------------Wojo
Sanga--mert--kos--gibbs
----Ramsey---Flamini
Cazorla---Ozil---Rosicky
----------Giroud

Bench - Vivano, Verm (Williams), Jenkinson, Monreal, Wilshire (Diame), Walcott, Bendter (Benteke)

Three players that would add depth to the squad without breaking the bank and add competition to the starting places.

Really? I thought he had a poor game. Sakho got the better of him IMO. Toure handed him a sitter on a platter which he didn't capitalize on. Sagna, Cazorla and Ramsey had good games but apart from that there wasn't anything special.

Don't know what game you were watching but he bullied both Skrtel and Sakho - won almost every aerial duel to be won.

No one is arguing that we need a bit of extra cover in some select positions.

This isn't FIFA. Teams generally don't have 1-2 players as cover for every position on the field.

Podolski is half the player he is centrally playing for us. Leave him at LW and watch him bang in the goals.

We have a number of options on the flanks, but none really up front if Giroud is injured. Wenger's refusal to buy another striker in the summer window likely means he views Podilski as a centre forward now.

Wilshere out for Dortmund, Gibbs should be okay.

Skrtel yes. Sakho no. Sakho had Giroud in his pocket.

Disagree. Sakho struggled with Giroud's intelligent movement off the ball - leaving space for Ozil, Ramsey, Rosicky to dictate the play in front of the box.

Watch Ramey's goal again - Giroud makes a run right in between Sakho and Toure and both of them get completely confused, and in that time they have allowed Ramsey the chance to strike when he pleased.

Little runs like that rarely get noticed or praised, but they are so important.

Wenger mentioned in an interview that he would play Ozil as false 9 if needed, though he definitely wants a new striker.

Which doesn't really matter, because he's not going to get any older during this season. We may go after another CDM again in June, especially if Frimpong is moved on, but there's not the remotest chance we'll be chasing one in January.

The only thing we will be chasing in January is a striker. If he finds the right deal for a centre back, he'll take one, but we'll only actively pursue strikers.

Kidding yourself, Giroud bossed the Liverpool back three and his dispersal of the ball allowed our midfield to slice them open.

Amazing how you can play 3 centre backs and still get done by one centre forward, mind boggling if you think about it

Although in Sakho's defense, he spent most the first half trying to do all the work that Cissokho obviously can't do

Arsenal aren't Tottenham, that is, our blokes move around and interchange positions and on this occasion, Rodgers got it awfully wrong playing only three at the back.

What this meant for Giroud was a shit load more open space to move into and of course, this created stacks more room for Carzola, Ozil and Rosicky to exploit and because Arsenal were not afraid to play the ball quickly over the top to Giroud and into space for the previous mentioned players, instead of Liverpool's middle five playing the game with the ball in front of them, it was persistently behind them and as a consequence, Gerrard and Lucas were left in la-la-land.

As for player recruits, one of Bendar or Gustavo would be fantastic and Benteke would be icing on the cake and an EPL title would be well on the cards although I'm still not convinced by our goal custodian.

His starting position has been a vast improvement and it has allowed him to come out much quicker and he's done so with great conviction but his performances at corners and crosses is still iffy. Having said that, it is because his keeping has improved that The Arsenal look very strong however, going on his lackadaisical attempt at a simple clearance that was charged down and one or two other indiscretions in past games, we'll be able to better judge his temperament and abilities when we play away at places like United, City, Chelsea, Everton, Southampton.

Bender recently signed a new deal i think.
Oh well, means he'll be more expensive.

Regardless though, I reckon a top player to add to Flemeni and Arteta plus a good striker as cover for Giroud and one other would make us a really top, top side and in with a great chance of winning the title.
