Yes thankfully it was only an illness for Giroud, not an injury. Ox should be back in the squad for the Villa game in 8 days. Plus there's Gnabry who put on a clinic this morning. Very impressive.

Our midfield options are plenty. Not quite the same at CF though but hopefully Theo's knee is not too serious.

And that is why we still have Tomas Rosicky. Someone like that to cover our injuries today, and come off the bench on other days, and do things like that with experience, work rate, and belief in the manager and the club.

In other news, Lewandowski has signed with Bayern, the only team he was ever going to sign with.

Rosicky's a little terrier and is almost in career best form in his Arsenal era. Wenger's usage of him has been key to this. Every alternate game seems to be working just fine.

Not only is it all he needs to do, unlike a lot of players he's also realised it's all his body is capable of doing at this level, and has happily accepted that as his role in this team rather than heading off to seek "more game time" at a mid table club (which would end in less game time through injury) and putting off a drop to a less intense but still well paid league like the US.

Guardian said:
Their wretchedness will be the outstanding memory of this match, most emphatically embodied by Rose's horrible gift-wrapping of the second goal, and by the dismal displays of their attacking players, particularly the hapless Emmanuel Adebayor. Arsenal didn't just beat Spurs here, they broke them.

:D

Great win over the spuds. Hopefully this now sets us up for a long run in the FA Cup.

The run will probably last until we run into City or Chelsea; we might be leading them in the league because it's a marathon, but we still seem short of being able to beat them in the sprint that is a single head to head game.

Should beat Coventry next round. But then again, I said the same thing for Bradford and Blackburn.

Pretty much guarantees we'll be in for someone new before the end of the month

Can we just put our £70,000001 bid in for Suarez and get it over and done with?

Supposedly the clause is only activated if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, so I don't think anyone can buy him out until end of season - and with a top 4 spot in reach Liverpool sure as shit won't sell him at all before then.

Giroud is back next game and we still have Podolski, so we won't be reduced to playing an 18 or 20 year old winger up front just yet

I was referring to on the right side once Giroud comes back next game. We do have some decent midfield options now. Ozil should be back in the line up, and Wilshere, Rosicky, Santi, Podolski, Gnabry, Ox etc can be deployed wide.

Clause is for non EPL clubs only provided we don't qualify for champions league. Suarez to Arsenal is pretty much impossible now.

Agree with you on Man City. The scares from the 6-3 drubbing will take a long time to overcome. Chelsea on the other hand would not bother me. It was a lousy wet night in London when we played them at the emirates and we should have won 1-0. Get them in April or May and our midfield should dominate them.

Not, it's in between a very kind set of fixtures ...

Monday 13 January - Premier League - Aston Villa (Away)
Saturday 18 January - Premier League - Fulham (Home)
Saturday 25 January - FA Cup - Coventry (Home)
Tuesday 28 January - Premier League - Southampton (Away)
Sunday 2 February - Premier League - Crystal Palace (Home)

I guess we will rest players as it is only three days before the Southampton game which looks the toughest game there. We did beat this mob 6-1 only last season.

If only it was on the 18th Jan instead. Ideal time to ease in the returnees such as Ramsey, Ox, Gibbs, etc.

Independent came up with a short list of strikers for us to grab in January, and then concluded we wouldn't be interested in or couldn't get any of them, except for one.

Costa - Won't leave Atletico with them flying and in a world cup year
Berbatov - Not interested
Benzema - Found form and Madrid won't sell
Morata - Wants a loan deal from Madrid to get guaranteed first team football, and we can't guarantee him that
Mandzukic - Bayern won't let him go until Lewandowski arrives, and he's not likely to leave Bayern when they're hot for the title again
Remy - Could get, but would we want to?
Michu - Is injured now, totally pointless buy
