Hopefully - that said I have been looking at Celtic v Knicks for Xmas day and cheapest I've seen on stubhub has been $150+ for 3rd tier...

I guess the difference will be, I'm not going to be picky (great game and can see the desire to get to that one) to what game I go to. I'm will to just rock up to a game and grab any tickets I can. I doubt the Clippers vs Bulls will sell out in early January. So for me, waiting and getting tickets at the venue is a risk/reward motive.

I saw the clippers v suns in March this year, Blake Griffin was awesome to watch live!:thumbsu:

Just booked another trip to States for next November for two weeks to go a friends 40th birthday in Vegas. Will spend first week in Boston and New York then off to Vegas for a week.

Will be there for the Presential election on the 7th and having a bent for things political looking forward to it.

This will make the 10th trip to USA/Canada and 9th to Vegas!

Am hoping to go to the US next year around early to mid-September for three months following my two sports teams.

Was going to go this year but with the NBA Lockout didn't want to go as along with College Football (Oregon Ducks), NBA (Houston Rockets) was the other reason I was going to go.

Already applied for my Ducks season tickets. Probably won't be able to get them as Oregon have sold out every home game for the past 10 years or something but worth a try. If I can't, then that means flexibility to get tickets to games through Stubhub anyway. Will also look into getting like a home-stand Rockets ticket which is when they play four or five home games in a row and you get tickets for all at a discount.

Will obviously like to see plenty of other things too in terms of sites and other sports but College Football and NBA being the main two.

I don't think it was me, although I may have read that myself. I could imagine it being absolute chaos though.

It was me (possible others).
Vegas (apart from being pretty overrated) is shocking on New Years. Seriously took 15 minutes to walk 15 meters (from one end of our hotel to the other) just after 12.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Depends how you are. If you are into the gambling, then you'll love it all the time. If you're just visiting, you'll love it the first time, lots of stuff to do besides gambling, but loses its luster a bit on subsequent trips.

Lucky, about 20 people from my school are going to NYC for Christmas this year. I was lucky enough to visit there in May, bloody incredible city.

Looking to book some clippers tickets against the nuggets next year. Was thinking about purchasing some premier tickets (as price is reasonable) but not sure if i'd lose too much atmosphere sitting there. Anyone recommend where to sit? Will also be booking some knicks tickets in the upper seating

You wont lose atmosphere. I sat way up high with my family and had a ball.

Got my flights to the States booked. Now just need to organise specific times, domestic flights and accom (will use airbnb and expedia as much as possible).

Rough itinerary at this point (arrivals):
10/5: San Francisco
14/5: Vancouver
17/5: Calgary (cousin lives there, spending 1-2 nights in Banff)
20/5: Ottawa (will stay with friend there, and will head to Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal and Quebec, in no particular order)
26/5: NY/Boston (will spend around 5 nights in NY, and will then tour through Boston, Philly and DC. Just not sure which will come first)
5/6: Chicago
7/6: Las Vegas
12/6: LA
16/6: Home

For 2 months holiday, 10k spending money seem reasonable?
It's hard to gauge the right amount.

Would rather over budget than under budget.

Depends on what you want to do, where you are going, etc, etc.

10k can be either sufficient or leave you wanting more.

My mate burned through 20k US$ in two and a half months not quite a year ago.

I don't see how the tv could be worse than here. I didn't watch it when i went there in september but watched a bit in 2007. I don't remember it being as bad as ours.

Mainly just the stock standard csi shoes etc. The adds cracked me up for any medicine, they spent most of the add telling you how it could kill you or leave you a vegtable!

haha yes, that was what stood out to me with their ads. The main bulk of their ads were for Pharmaceuticals and medical insurance. Pretty sad really when you have a fair idea of the corruption behind it.

Just back from a month in the US south west/California.

Good fun. TV was shit. Coffee was worse.

The TV ads for medicine really have to be seen to be believed. Although the rest of the TV is no worse than the crap we get here.

For some reasom i thought you lived in Brisbane.

If so i thought you would be used to shit coffee being the home of "the coffe club" and all. ;-)

We have far more options than the Coffee Club fortunately. However, franchise wise Coffee Club has to be better than what I was drinking at Starbucks in NYC. That was a shock to my palate and would take some getting used to.

Hard to explain, I want to live it up, but not to some ridiculous level. I will be doing a few tours and whatnot, helicopters / limos / boats etc but this wont be everyday.

Coffee flavored hot milk beverage....

Must be spoiled in Melbourne, just got back from Brissy and that was shit as well. Poured a long glass of hot milk then pouring in the coffee over the top...The milk the yanks must injest on a daily basis...
