I really hope the recent critism of our club its coaches and players is used to develop a real us v them mentality at our club.

As a Swan District supporter I remember John Todd was an expert at drawing players in close with an us v them mentality that took us to 3 premierships.

These critics label our senior players as crap with comments like we are further away from flag than Gold Coast. If this cant be used to motivate Pav Mcpharlin Headland Haselby Tarrant Sandilands etc then it is time to support the eagles ( nah....nothing could be that bad)

If the players have any respect for Harvey this year needs to be a breakout year where Mcpharlin Haselby Headland Crowley Bradley Grover etc bloody get real and work real hard and actually play to their potential.

Hope all this crap critism can put a fire in belly of all involved with our club..........then you never know 2010 may be a turning point in clubs history

We are as club copping a bit more than the general idiot comments from the AFL pundits than usual at the moment...
I hope they do use it to fire up.....
Hutchy and Dwayne are bottom feeding desperados who thought they may take a 'free hit' with Freo...
Hutchy make me fire up for my sport and I don't even play AFL...

Problem with that is that in all honesty...

McPharlin, Grover, Headland and Haselby are past their best

Sandilands, Pavlich and Tarrant are at the top of their game

Ibbotoson/Mundy/Johnson/Murphy/Schammer are the ones that need to step up...I would have thought final glory would be all the motivation that is required.

I'm of the opinion that us vs them mentality is very much media and fan driven...I think you'd find that west coast and freo players probably get along quite well....Eagle fan/journo's need to rubbish freo drive the us vs them mentality.

Grover yes but work rate and fitness has been an issue with the other 3 so a big summer on the track should see them finish top ten in the B&F.

I think that's wishful thinking with Headland and Haselby...Haselby's body is battered and struggled with fitness when he was in his prime, headland needs to completely reinvent himself into a forward to have much impact next season.

I'll give you McPharlin, if we can be left down back...He may yet make AA we have always known he was capable of.

I agree the high lighted players are key players that need to play to ntheir full potential this year. I really believe we have enough good players to do well this year if they all play to potential.

Hase was 5th in the Doig this year in his first season back from a knee and will hopefully have Rhys as support next year so a similar result should be expected.

Dessie's body seems to be an issue but if he plays 20 games I think 30-35 goals is a realistic expectation. He'd know that it's last roll of the dice and that he has failed to live up to expectations thus far.

If you were to sum up our history, that would be pretty close to the mark.

For me we have to many "cream players", essentially those that in a top side look great and are contributors..But struggle in the bottom sides.

Headland is your classic example..

Ibbotson,Mundy and Johnson are fast proving themselves to be of this ilk

Thank god for the likes of Palmer, Pavlich, Sandilands etc who can hit their peak regardless of the support crew.

Headland is pretty bloody good when fit. For the past 3 years he has looked ready to absolutely kill it...before getting injured.

Get him on the park and I reckon he'll do everything supporters want to see.
