All clubs have this problem, and regional clubs have to make do without a school to feed from. Plenty of other sources to get players from! You shouldn't be reliant on the schools.

DV07 you obviously don't have any pride in where you came from! It's blokes like yourself that should want to continue playing footy with your mates in a jumper that represents a big part of your life. Clubs linked with schools shouldn't have to chase kids like you to come and play for them, you should want to play for them and represent the thousands of people that have sat in the same classroom and played in the same first 18 teams as you, and then moved on together and not watch the history that these people before you have created to make such a great club slide away because you want to be chased and told you are great! I reckon if you went into your library there would be a few year books about the school and its history that might show you what it means to be an old boy, maybe even a few teachers at the school who actually went to Parade who could tell you how much the colours Purple Green and Blue mean to them!
........ In the influx were a hell of a lot of players including some who hung round the club, Porty, Ace Curran, D Loney, Ciavola's, Swindons, Richo and couple of others. There wern;t many from parade yr 12 college who played for them then, and there aren't too many now.
The influx during '97-'98 seemed as tho it only served as prolonging the OP's fall from grace.
I spose this fall would have been a lot earlier had the DV boys not come into the club.
As mentioned in earlier posts, OP's have not appointed any DV person of influence since, and tried to build from within. Recruiting means and ways have improved from beyond, and passed OP's by.
............
casboult trained and has committed to old geelong. Great news for them,
rumours at BT are that chivers left over a confrontation with coach easton, can anyone confirm.
Which problem?
Most of these regional clubs wouldnt survive 5 years, let alone 75, if they didnt rely on paying players.
OPs are struggling at present cos the landscape has changed a little and they are only just beginning to make adjustments.
I meant regional clubs within the amateurs, sorry should have made that clear. Not all clubs within the ammos have an association with a school. i.e. Fitzroy, Oakleigh, BT, Prahran
And not all regional clubs pay players....
anyway back to the real stuff
Who are the D1 teams playing in their final praccy matches ?
Oakleigh has Clayton (SFL Div 1 Premier 2006)
Will be a good game out in Bulleen on Sat with Old Carey hosting OG
Old Geelong would be very very competitive in C Grade this year with some quality recruits- Think they will really test OC , particularly in the key positions. Both sides had similar results v Whitefriars- will be very interesting- Tip- OGS by 3 goals as they have something to prove whilst it is just a praccy for Old Carey
Carey beat whitefriars by about 15 goals!
What a load of bunkum!
Who are you talking about ? Who was this DV person that had such an influence?
In the last 30 years I can only think of one person with DV experience who had reasonable success, by getting them into finals in A section in late 80s. The only coaches who have helped the club to be promoted have been VAFA types.
Spose they were not able to read the writing on the wall.?
A club cannot survive on the good will or a Brabender, Vincent or Cosgriff's forever. As good 'a blokes as they are.
Popped down and watched the OGS play Old Carey, and think D Grade should definitely watch out. They have added height and speed to last year's side, and Casboult is playing. Old Carey definitely were the stronger of the two teams, and the scoreboard certainly flattered the OGS, however i feel that on that display they are a higher middle 4-6 C Grade side, and should dominate D1.They constantly put Old Carey under intense pressure and consistently forced turnovers with some great tackling. Seeing a fit McCarthy back and running was great too, and his battle with Evans and Carr was good watching.Branigan provided a good target. Though wet did not suit, he consistently provided an option and often cleared the way for onballers. Ramsden gives them some physical presence as well.Colby was back and provided some magic in the wet with a super goal in the far pocket. Carey didnt have Tiras, and big ruck Unkles, though Basell seemed to control hitouts. Also did not notice either of their big forwards from last year. Some bloke 'Mal' was impressive across the middle, and Collins was as per usual a ball magnet, despite some close tagging .Both sides were probably 3-4 players off full strength. Since this would be pretty close to the norm during the season, we could use this as a reasonable gauge.
Saw the second half of the twos, which was also competitive and there seemed to be a couple of blokes in Carey's twos who would be big options for ones. Big Big unit in ruck and across CHF seemed unfit but was suprisingly fast and had some big hits. Onballer 17 and Wing 39 seemed good enough for ones too, and tall skinny player across half forward showed some flashes. OGS was harder to work out as they seemed to play half of their ones including VW, Deisel, Ramsden, but thought Mark Avery played well enough to get a look in at the ones, as did Bayles.

Being a Aquinas person you are absolutley spot on. Couldnt happen to a better bunch of blokes!!!!!!!! The softest ammo's team i have seen in quite a while. Someone should teach them to put their head over the ball.LONG YEAR FOR THE BUSHRANGERS!!!!!
Saw them play Aquinas in a praccy match today and they were a rable. Heard they have lost a few but by the way they are going D2 beckons. Couldn't happen to a better bunch of blokes!
Also, 26 is a twat!
Yeah, i take your history as gospel. I dont' know of any men, beside Dale, who got them to A grade.
I am talking bout U/19 coach, who got a lot of DV players there. They were recruited to play U/19's, and most did. Yet a lot of them played seniors while the were eligable for u/19, when Parade were in A grade, then bk in B grade. A lot of the youngsters stayed on, ala the names i mentioned earlier, but have now all moved on. Except for Porty.
My point being that it seemed as it only delayed the fall from grace for the Yarrangabee's.
