Bad luck about how your Unders are going!

Lucky your coach didn't have the balls to put the team in the section above on the performances they are showing.

Anyone else get sick of the incessant OEG & Collegians talk on this thread.

Tiresome.

Perhaps you could offer something rather than criticise.

Nobody is forcing you to read this thread.

Alternatively, it may be viewed as a wise decision (not merely luck) to keep the side in the lower grade, knowing they wouldn't have or didn't recruit the necessary quality cattle to be competitive.

Not sure who the Redz would've replaced if they'd gone up, but that side may have been grateful for getting another crack in the higher grade to prove the previous year was an aberration.

U19s footy is a strange beast, as sides can have a ripper unit for a year or two (particularly school old boys sides) and then get a weaker group come through which can't carry on the good work of the previous year(s). Pretty sure Parade did it this season as well, so Old Carey and Whitefriars went up instead.

Parade probably needn't have worried as they're dominating in Section 3, but having a side stay in the lower section and win more games than they lose can assist in providing U19 players for the senior sides throughout the year without risking a massive drop-off in playing numbers because your side's been getting pumped.

It actually takes courage for the club/match committee to say to your new playing group - "we don't think you'll be good enough to perform as the promoted side, so we're staying put". A broader perspective on the importance of U19s to your club bears this out.

Sounds as if you've already identified where your priorities lie Knighter.

To go from a non-appearance, to disciplinary demotion, to BOG upon return, and then to not front up again due to the lure of a Friday night at the clubs (yet claiming here that "I wanted a quiet Friday night").....doesn't take an Einstein to work the rest out.

Get a mirror that works, or stop being so easily led.

I can't help being the life of the party nor can I resist the hords of women who throw themselves at me. My mirror works just fine thanks, it tells me I'm beautiful!

Anyway, you're right Scribe. I've decided to concentrate on playing football for the remainder of the year and will strive to help Caulfield stay out of relegation which is a slim possibility now following the lost to OE's.

for kissing a team mates younger sister at a local night club i believe....

To scribe have you ever thought their may be reasons why a majority of euroa boys can not complete full sessions during the week. Namely because their bodies cant handle it to well. Gibson doesnt train as his body is just about finished and does whats required to get through games. Grainger missed 4 games at the start of the year with ligament troubles and it still bothers him. shelton has had stress fractures for 10 weeks. Jansz has had 2 knee recos throughout is career. Mcbrien has done his hammy 5 times in 12 months. m.clayton broken scaffoid and howse has groin problems. So they manage them so they can get through games on weekends. Must be doing them well if they are on top.

Yes - I have, but I don't think I was having a go at anyone for not completing full sessions. Never said I was making it through either did I? (30 year-olds have that luxury I guess) ;)

My main point was, I'd shudder to think how much more they'd be dominating the GVFL if everyone was fully fit and capable of 4 hours of training during the week!!!

I think they've done very well, given the limited training the above players' bodies can go through. All those listed above are correct, which means for them to play regularly, they're managing themselves properly.

All good....

Some juicy match-ups across the grades this week I see.

A Grade is highlighted by the Bloods hosting the Blues @ McKinnon, whilst the Cardinals have a must win game against Xavs @ Camberwell.

B Grade has a ripping local derby between De La and the High @ Waverley Rd, whilst the Keilor Hill lads take on the 'Hoers @ Centreway East.

C Grade's highlights are the Sharks hosting the Wellers whilst Parade host the Jackas.

Down in D1, Carey's boys are hosting the lads from Wattle Park.

D2 sees the ladder leading lads from Como Park hosting the Latrobe students.

D3 has the Westies from Brunswick hosting the Werribee Ammos.

And what big shoulders they are!

Mobbenfunkenshizen you'd be pleased to know your Redz gloating may be validated. A friend from Mentonians said he saw your boys a few weeks back and reckons your a dead cert for the D1 flag. Said the Redz with a Z would have won by 10 goals had they kicked straight.

Took advantage of Tight @rse Tuesdays at the movies last night by taking the mrs to see Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants. Sounds like a terrible movie, but for the romantics out there, i recommend it, earnt massive brownie points with the mrs :D :D :D

Pazza, what are the predictions in the umpiring fraternity for these big clashes you speak of? For the benefit of all those on here bar the misguided and horribly named FreddieFenster who's added nothing to the forum what r your tips for Bernies v Collegians, Trinity v Skobs, OE's v Ivanhoe, Caulfield v St B's, Monash v Vultures, Aquinas v Reds.

Loaded question that Picnic!

Can't really give out tips (as I am sure you can understand), but, I get the feeling that The OC are a great shot at beating Madden's boys, Skobbers have been unlucky in recent weeks and maybe that could turn around, 'Hoers have the form to beat the Keilor Hill boys, the 'Fielders should win (but, stranger things have happened), Parkdale are a good side from what I've heard and I reckon Mobbs' boys are playing like a premiership side.

As for promotion and relegation, here's what I think "might" happen:

Out of A: Trinity and Skobbers
Into A: 'Hoers and De La
Out of B: 'Nodders and Nobs
Into B: Blacks and Beauy
Out of C: Bears and Therry
Into C: Reds and Monders
Out of D1: Packer Parkers and Aquinas
Into D1: The boys from Como and Sunbury
Out of D2: Swinnie Students and 'Hoe/Assumpition combine
Into D2: Werribee and Westies
Out of D3: Tally-Hos and Power House
Into D3: Wickers and Hawthorn

Mr Picnic

Can I please have some dating tips? I have a date lined up for tonight and we're going somewhere for a few drinks. What can I do to really impress her?

I hear my boy Alphonse was playing tuff on the weekend. Knocking a few into the next week. Good for him. It was time he toughened up and bit. My hubby Carl always thought he was soft.

Thanks Pazza - your tip is duly noted, and provides even more incentive for Trinity to show the weekend's 10 goal win over The OC wasn't an aberration.

It is all good mate and the patnership is working great guns.. The hospitality has been fantastic and standard of training very good. Hopefully you boys keep winning some remaining games to hold your place in A grade.

What are the chances of St.Bernards being relegated?

I see they have a few easier games vs St.Kevins and OC in the next few weeks so relegation should be avoided. Opinions!

Their chances of relegation are slim but they are a very ordinary outfit atm.

Rumours abound that their VFL stars will come back if relegation is likely so expect to see Harvey, Clarke, Byrne, Cheep etc come back in if they are looking shakey. A loss to us this week could put them on shakey ground with Trinity playing SKOB.

If they do get relegated, they may end up in C Section in 2007, the club would implode...

Bernards in C Grade, i'd love to see that happen.

has there even been a club go from d to c, then c to b , then b to a, and then take out a in 4 years.

I know that is a great ride and I am aware of old xavs 6 years record in A.
