Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
That and the obvious other issue on the table.

says he was found in his hotel room, then says somewhere else he jumped off the 6th story.
police could have been checking on his welfare for all we know.
Already we are being fed crap. Who reported that he died in his room ? The police ?? There's a bit more to this story I think.
You don't know that he did something wrong. But you can assume he was about to be accused of something and didn't want the infamy of having to face those charges. Was absolutely shocked when I heard this.
I never liked Roebuck, and that was before all the stuff he wrote during that Indian series which was the tip of the iceberg for me.
Being a high profile guy, with a lot to lose, for him to jump from the 6th floor of his building, he must have done something very wrong. Obviously the news of what he’d done coming out was too much for him to handle.
Crazy how this can happen. He was just on air a few days prior, had just written another article, and then this. Wow.
If he jumped, I'm assuming the charges were not only serious, but true. He jumped out of a freaking window. You don't know that he did something wrong. But you can assume he was about to be accused of something and didn't want the infamy of having to face those charges.

How must Jim Maxwell feel. Since the last summer he's had one colleague attempt or at the very least contemplate suicide and another jump off 6 floors.
Who was the other guy?
Never liked him to be honest. Was good early on then rapidly became full of himself. It's one thing to write eloquently but he'd do it at the expense of a good article.
I'm sure there will be more information to come on this.
Reading through this thread has confirmed my previous thoughts that if I was ever doing job interviews a great question to ask a potential employee would be a) if they were a cricket fan and b) their view of Peter Roebuck.
If they responded with anything like - idiot, pommy ****, who uses flowerly language and has no idea on the game, is anti-Australian etc etc - then they would be instantly shown the door.
Given some of the views put forward on this thread I think it would be a great first screening process.
I am looking forward to fixing my screening processes.Do adopted boys count... wht if he doesnt like girls![]()

We don't always agree Partridge, but we are close on this one.
Perhaps his writing suffered as his life spiraled further into blackness?
I was furious with one P Roebuck at the time for his grossly one-eyed take on that whole Indian summer but I'm disappointed to hear the spiteful vitriol on here and elsewhere all but condemning him to death without established facts
I can't believe that some people can't separate an annoying occurrence in a sport/hobby several years ago from what now amounts to a tragic loss of life, however you look at it
The fact that I raged at his coverage at the time does not blind me to his strengths as a cricket analyst and neither does all the sordid innuendo which many are indulging in after his death
I'll wait until the facts are sorted and verified before I make any moral judgements, if i make any at all
It's a sad reflection on the anonymously nasty keyboard warrior culture that small and petty minds seek to make themselves feel bigger by making sweeping and ill-considered statements with no understanding of or respect for the presumption of innocence or a level of respect for the dead or their loved ones
I agree there's no need to try to deify him but there's no excuse either for demonising him with unproven supposition and slander...shame on you, you dirty little grubs
I hope anyone reading this thread feeling helpless or without hope does not make the same decision as Peter did - there are other avenues and help available for anyone considering hurting themselves or others
Life is precious, rest in peace Peter Roebuck
