Huge vent is that the skills, game style, attitude etc etc of the reserves after one quarter just now is light years ahead of what the seniors coughed up tonight.

Then perhaps people need look no further for a new coach, if that is the direction that beckons.

Yeah, but none of the reserves players could get a game this week. We get pumped by West Coast and we make one change. Basically the same side and supporters are served up the same rubbish again.

Yes, but the coach gets them to produce some GUTS. Which as I understand of tonight's performance is something that appeared absent. I haven't watched even a minute of footy this year, so my commentary is predicated solely on what I read.

De-listing a 24 year old Jordan Lisle looks a bit dumb too. He would be a walk up start in our side at the minute. He would certainly have been a better prospect at full forward than anyone I have seen this year. Who made that call?

You mean apart from Hawthorn, Brisbane and the 16 other clubs that didn't pick him up once he was delisted?

The single most damming stat is the winning 1 quarter of footy this year, to not muster up a little junk time revival or scrap out a mini victory at any stage of any game is seriously disturbing. That is wholey and soley coaching. To not be able to bang a few through once the opposition takes the foot of the gas is intolerable.

That doesn't really mean much. If he was on our list, he would be playing each week and we would be less of a joke in the forward line than we currently are.

Leppa came in with a defence first mindset for our team... we are the poorest team defensively this season. Not only that but this team is possibly the worst I have ever seen in my life. My father watched the Bears when they were getting flogged by 60 points every week and even he has said this team just doesn't put in. No effort, no skills, no leadership and no gameplan. Watching the Dogs, Dees even Carlton FFS you can clearly see they have a set plan they are implementing yet here we are with nothing. Just handball backwards, slow and predictable switching, and kicking to a stagnate contest up the field when the players feel like it.

We need experience within the coaching ranks. Why didn't we go after someone with head coaching experience? FFs even Ayres would be a better choice than Leppa.

Loved this bloke at Fitzroy. We need a Robert Shaw "type."

Not sure I agree with this. It is evident that things aren't clicking but I back them to click, eventually (whether that is the latter part of this season or next I have no idea). The issue is once they do we still have shit bookends (the back is bookend is less shit than the front bookend though).

The Beams trade was a no brainer. Absolute gun who will complement Rockliff and Redden perfectly and relieve some pressure on Hanley and Rich.

Christensen just fell in our lap really. Wasn't really a need as we had a fair squad of smaller speedy types already. Im sure he will turn out to be valuable to our club, but at the moment seems to be a bit off.

Robinson is the one who's recruitment was questionable. But even then he didn't cost anything.

Really would we have been able to bring any decent key position players instead?

Find me a Merrett. Roger Merrett.

If it's half time he can be found outside the ground having a dart.

Yep. Get him on as the sub when he flicks it away.

It was a no brainer, but we gave up crisp to get him, thats what hurts us, it was a fair call by Collingwood to request it, but you add crisp to the go home 5 and Aish, have we improved our list or are we jogging up and down on the spot.

You through in Aish this year and thats 7 players we have lost who would at some point or another more than likely been in our best 22.

With players getting homesick, and us having to give up players to get the home sick players to come to us, we will never improve. This is wear free agency is screwing the teams outside the 8.

We will more than likely finish bottom this year, but whats the use, the number 1 draft pick will be starting his two year count down to move on from draft day.

I don't think a salary concession is needed, we need something to make sure players want to stay, the way the rules are currently its too easy for players to walk now.

Actually maybe that's the problem. Too much chicken?

It's a known fact that factory produced chicken contains steroids. It's a known fact that steroids shrink your balls. It's a known fact we ain't playing with any balls. Therein lies the problem.

I never thought I would EVER say this, I will not be a Lions member next year, why put in the money and effort traveling to games (which I have done twice this season already from Tasmania) if the team does not try.

All I get from my membership is feeling like crap every week, there is no more pride in my lions...

How many get home sick at the suns ?

Josh Caddy.... anyone else ?

The extra $ GC might influence that somewhat?

'I'm homesick'
'If we give ya an extra $80k will ya stay?'
'yeah ok'.

That and it is the GC. You know, beaches girls and stuff on your doorstep?

Yep. That's the intangibles that NO amount of figures can refute - the personal experience. We can have members out the wazoo, dollars rolling in - but if the personal experience is rubbish, it is completely irrelevant. If such things have value, all will follow the club with the most money, the most fans, the most members, the best facilities etc etc.....oh wait, just like the EPL!!

our smalls forwards are absolutely lazy and selfish. Been saying for a few years now that Green has no defensive side to his game at all and if anything it is getting worse. Our mozzies are just not doing the defensive things that is required in the AFL. Green, Taylor and Bundy allow their opponents run off easily unattended and create scoring opportunities up the other end. Sure we don't have a brute of a FF who can take pack marks but when we win a clearance and kick it long our talls do make a contest and bring the ball to ground more often than not. The smalls are badly out of position and also can't seem to lock the ball in. Happening for years now.

"How's Rockliff doing?" Is the best/only first question Michael Whiting could think to ask Leppitsch at the post game interview. FFS QLD footy is hopeless.

ya know, this recalls the only moment I had with Aker...it would have been 98? 99? (cbf looking it up_ - we beat Carlton at the Gabba (I think we played North the next week and Blacky got injured in a heavy collision?), Voss got injured during the game - we won, and post-match at the clubhouse I asked him, foolishly, how Voss was doing. He looked at me for a second perplexed...

And now I understand his reaction - because it was the reaction I had when reading your post Brizrider.

"He's just ONE of 22". The criticism evident in the post is directed at QLD Footy, not you mate, for clarification :)

So what's the go with us this season? Looked alright during pre-season. I haven't seen a game yet since the season-proper began, on account of being half way around the world. But looking at the scores and stats and any video I can get my hands on, the boys just aren't putting the effort in. Is that it? Are they burned out already? It looks as though the reserves have the same issue. We haven't had that bad a run of injury have we?
