He could still be a late inclusion for Fletcher.

I don't have him but was considering bringing him in. Guess not now.
I very much doubt it, Fletcher was just rested last week I believe. As for Hibberd, I think it was a fair bit much to expect him to be a straight inclusion into the 22 for Winderlich/Dempsey like some would have hoped. Their logical replacements are Reimers and Slattery.

Still, from what I have heard of Hibberd's Bendigo form and seen from him in preseason and last week, he will probably get numerous games this year when injuries occur. However, I fully expect him to be in and out of the side. Hardingham and Heppell have been playing brilliantly in defence and their 'lesser' midfielders in Lonergan, Howlett have really stood up this year and particularly in the last 3 or so rounds so are very unlikely to be dropped. Monfries, Melksham, Ryder are probably the 3 that if I was Hird I would put on notice, but still I think it is rather unlikely that Hibberd is the replacement because if Ryder/Monfries are dropped I fully expect Davey to come into the team.

With that said, I don't think trading Hibberd is necessarily a bad move but him stringing 5+ games together is very unlikely unless the Bombers have signifcant injury issues. Personally, I went to Thompson for the job security.

EDIT: And since I am here, vent at Vossy for not playing Bewick this round. Not good enough Voss, I now hope Gold Coast flog the Lions.

yeah, if anyone actually vents about hibbert because they traded him in on monday, i'll laugh

Was watching Hibberd very closely, as he was a downgrade target of mine. Glad I waited and could pick up Pedersen instead. $$

Will make up for me being overly cautious last week and ditching Krakouer for McKernan (still facepalming myself for it... but, it's something to be learnt from, and really only 1 trade burnt).

+1 :o - It was utterly cringeworthy and a lesson well learnt

Confused as to why everyone is trying to trade in short term cash cows, eg for example a Pederson over Hibberd. Aren't the cash cows your starting rookies?? with the further downgrades the cover for the rest of the year?? Quite frankly, I prefer the chances of Hibberd being named in Round 15 then Pederson, so what if hes not named for his 3rd game, your still getting the downgrade $$. Not quite a vent, but ill just say its a vent at peoples logic?? If that works

cash cows are anyone you are bringing in to make money. if you are only looking to do this with the rookies you start the season with, you are missing the boat mate. 24 trades can go a long way if done correctly.

I am very much only looking to do this with my starting rookies, as the only failed ones I have are Richardson/Bewick, who can play the same role of that 'late' cash cow, to give you a cash boost for an unexpected/unplanned upgrade. Perhaps using 24 trades correctly is not doing 'two step' downgrades. Well by the end of the year I will look back and see how good my trading was.

look at it this way, a lot of teams might have 2 def, 3 mid, and 2 fwd spots they are looking to upgrade to premiums at the start of the season. ideally that will take 14 trades to do (downgrade 7 rookies and upgrade 7 others). you can either use the rest to do sideways trades, or make more money to get the true premiums...your call. granted, some trades will need to be saved for injuries and finals, but if you're saving 10 trades, that's a lot of wasted cash that could be on the field.

I fancy my ability to get true premiums in each position, without the need of looking for cash cows now, as the initial ones will more then do the job. That is taking into consideration that I plan on holding players such as Otten for 'late' downgrades. But yes I do understand where youre coming from, and Id like to make more then 7 upgrades ideally, to have premium cover on bench (2-3 players). I think ive been lucky in avoiding many flops so perhaps i see this as a irrelevant approach, without taking into consideration other teams.

hmmm..yet in the other thread, you mentioned you just traded libba to iles. whether you know it or not, you are doing exactly what i was mentioning, and are trading into additional cash cows. so you are saying there is no chance that you use iles as an upgrade in 4 - 5 weeks time?

Hmmm I was planning on trading Hibberd in next week....guess not

Precisely, Iles is in there as a long term bench player, due to his job security. The cash i get is from Libba, not from Iles. Ideally I will have a mid bench of Mzungu, Iles and Jacobs.

WTF Eade, who tags McGlynn when there's a Goodes or O'Keefe carving you?:mad::mad:

SJ what a joke!!!
Was looking forward to the game so much, brought in Chapman and Selwood this week to add to Bartel, Enright and SJ.

Bloody annoying.

Bring in Chapman and make him captain this week. Get on your skates ffs. I hate this bloody game sometimes.
