Agree they could be anything, simply need to keep adding to what we have. A real Weribee 2019 about them. Hope they can get some former Dollies back, some locals to the MPNFL back to Kinetic stadium. Capiron, Street, Maclachlan etc.
Capiron seems settled at Geelong
Mclaughlin will go back to local
Street surely time for a new challenge

probably a whole bunch more but those were the ones I could think of.

I know the club was keen to do this (bring locals back to Frankston)

Also don’t want front runners that left the club when they weren’t doing so well and now just coming back to bask in the glory, Machlancan trained there preseason and chose Williamstown instead. I think this group has what it takes, another solid key defender would make a massive difference they definitely miss Max Williams.
Where is it on record that Voss is going?

not on record, have watched every game, saw him live few weeks ago and St.Kilda scouts were very happy with what they saw

Yeah I watch every game, he has definitely improved in leaps and bounds from last year. Saints had 0 interest in him in his draft year so it will be interesting to see how it pans out if the relationship can be rebuilt, hence why he went straight to Frankston

from my understanding, that Sandy cohort had a falling out with the Zebras and went down the road. They have absolutely loved life at Kinetic stadium since.

Jackson Kornberg has built a very strong culture that players want to be part of. I think we're a good chance to retain the guys even with Sandringham going independent.

To be completely fair to McLaughlin, he trained with us fairly late in the preseason when our list was nearly finalised and we just couldn't squeeze us in. I don't know if it was a salary cap issue or just that our forward line was already decided, but from what I understand his first choice was Frankston and we just couldn't make it work at the time.

Sad to hear that Darebin Falcons are in a bit of strife. They've contributed a lot to the women's game and produced some great players. An alignment with Richmond might save them from folding but I hope it wouldn't be a takeover like so many VFL/W alignments have been in the past.

Port Skipper and gun Harvey Hooper retiring from VFL
He's certainly had a great career for Port Melbourne. Can't begrudge him the decision, though it's too bad for the club that he's retiring while he's still one of our best and most consistent players. Especially with him and Anastasio being the only two on our current list with premiership experience, I'd hoped he'd keep the captaincy in addition to continuing to play.

Any idea who might succeed him as captain? My guesses would be Tom Hird or Jimmy Miller. Tom Hird seems to be pretty vocal as an on-field leader, although one question is whether it's a good idea for the son of the director of coaching to be captain. I don't think that in itself should disqualify him as long as James takes no part in the decision, but the risk is that coaches don't often leave on their own terms, and if James is eventually sacked or otherwise leaves on less than amicable terms, Tom may walk also - which would be very unfortunate given what a good player he is for us, but it is a risk. Jimmy Miller also strikes me as a strong candidate, which is more based on vibes - he seems like one who would be an enforcer if such a thing actually existed in the game anymore. But it is rather difficult to judge these things from the outside.

In any case, congratulations to Harvey Hooper on a great career and all best to him for whatever he does next.

my guess would be Dyson Heppell, maybe even Matt Signorello or Tex Wanganeen
Well, in 1922 Bill Walton captain-coached Hawthorn while still playing for Port Melbourne so Tex Wanganeen is definitely a real possibility as long as he can get a game for St Kilda ressies

Last year Moyle makes it not just the squad but the 22 from 9 games. I was even outraged by that

Has a better season, plays 15 games and doesn’t make the squad. Clearly the second best ruckman behind Crossley this year

And probably the biggest robbery of them all, Southport. Only 3 players listed. No Boyd Woodcock

What the hell is going on with the selections? Literal lottery

Same people that probably do the fixture
No Tom Hird as well

Jean-Luc Velissaris a bit stiff also, maybe left out because Preston are wooden spooners but he's one who stands up consistently - was overlooked last year too

How Hugh Dixon isn't on a AFL list bewilders me
